ABB ACS380-040S-02A4-1 Machinery Drive 0.37 kW 2.4 A
Description
0.37 kW and 2.4 A in frame R0
Among the ACS380 machinery drives, the ACS380-040S-02A4-1 is a module for 1-phase 200 to 240 V input. Frame R0 houses the 2.4 A, 0.37 kW power stage. Think of small conveyors, dosing pumps and fans on a single-phase supply. Its connectivity is the standard variant (I/O and Modbus, BMIO-01 module fitted), and the EMC part is the low filtering level (C3 filter on 400 V, no internal filter on 230 V).

Current ratings of the ACS380-040S-02A4-1
Pick the current by load type: 2.3 A light-overload, 1.8 A heavy duty, 3.2 A maximum. Light-overload use allows 110% of the current for one minute in ten, heavy duty 150%, both at 50 degrees C. UL rating on the ABB page: 0.5 Hp, 2.3 A at 208 V. Always size from the nameplate current at your supply voltage.
Branch protection in the catalogue is 10 A gG or 32 A gR (IEC) and 10 A class T (UL). A UL installation can use MS132-6.3 & S1-M3-25 at 5.0 A input; its minimum enclosure volume is 1850 cubic inches. Plan the cabinet for 52 W (178 BTU/h) dissipation, where frame R0 is cooled by natural convection and has no fan.
Braking needs no add-on module because the chopper is part of the drive. The resistor window is 33 to 468 ohm, with 0.33 Hp continuous braking power. Cranes, hoists and high-inertia fans can stop quickly without extra hardware.
Variants of the ACS380 code
In ACS380-040S-02A4-1, the 04 means module construction, digit 0 chooses the filter, letter S selects the connectivity variant, 02A4 is the size and 1 the supply. S means a BMIO-01 I/O and Modbus module is fitted; N means no module; C means a configured variant with a module chosen by plus code. Plus codes such as +K457 for FCAN-01 CANopen, +K469 for FECA-01 EtherCAT, +K475 for FENA-21 PROFINET IO apply to the C variant only.
Mount it where the air stays between -10 and +50 degrees C (derated to 60 on R1 to R4) and non-condensing. Altitude is 0 to 4000 m for 400 V units and 0 to 2000 m for 200 V units, with derating above 1000 m. The standard motor cable limit is 150 m, longer with an output choke.

Documents and quotation
The figures above come from the ABB ACS380 machinery drives catalogue (US edition, Rev E, linked here) and the ABB product page for the ACS380-040S-02A4-1. Seven Star LLC quotes the ACS380-040S-02A4-1 from Muscat after you send the motor nameplate, voltage and fieldbus needs.
Please confirm the type code, options, motor rating, resistor and ambient conditions before you order. The catalogue is a US edition, so cross-check IEC values against ABB hardware manual 3AXD50000029274. About brand
ABB is the Swiss-Swedish engineering group for electrification and automation: low voltage drives, motors, circuit breakers and motor control, process instruments and analysers, control systems and robots. It was formed on 5 January 1988 by the merger of two older companies. ASEA was founded in Västerås, Sweden, in 1883 by Ludvig Fredholm to make electric lighting and generators. BBC Brown Boveri was founded in Baden near Zurich in 1891 by Charles E. L. Brown and Walter Boveri. ABB Ltd is incorporated in Switzerland, headquartered in Zurich and listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and Nasdaq Stockholm.

Choosing an ABB drive
ABB's ACS drive codes are easy to read once you know the pattern. In ACS580-01-046A-4, "ACS580" is the drive family, "01" means a wall-mounted single drive, "046A" is the rated output current (about 46 A) and "-4" means a 380–480 V supply. The family is chosen by application: ACS355 for compact machinery, ACS310 for simple pumps and fans, ACS580 as the general-purpose drive, ACQ580 for water and wastewater with pump functions such as pipe fill and dry-run protection, and ACS880 for heavy industrial duty with direct torque control. Size the drive on the motor's full-load current, not only its kW rating, and allow derating for the high ambient temperatures common in Gulf electrical rooms.
Where ABB products are used
In Oman and the GCC, ABB drives and motors run pumps, fans and compressors in water and wastewater plants, district cooling, oil and gas and industry. ABB flowmeters, level instruments and analysers are used in water utilities, power and desalination plants and refineries, and SACE breakers protect switchboards in buildings and plants.
