Brand:

Schischek ExMax-S-BF Ex Rotary Actuator with Ex-i Trip Circuit

Description

Spring-return actuator prepared for a temperature trigger

The Schischek ExMax-S-BF is the fire damper member of the size S ExMax line. It adds an intrinsically safe Ex-i tripping circuit to a spring-return actuator, so an ExPro-TT safety temperature trigger can be plugged in through an M12 quick connection and release the damper when the trigger responds. Two integrated auxiliary switches report the end positions. The datasheet states the BF types qualify for integration into fire damper systems under EN 15650, EN 1366-2 and EN 13501-3.

How the Ex-i trip circuit is used

In a fire damper installation the trigger sits in the airflow and opens a circuit when its temperature limit is reached. Because the actuator has the Ex-i input built in, the trigger connects without a separate barrier box, and the spring return closes the damper. Standard torque is selectable on site and the spring return time can be set to about 3 or 10 s.

What to confirm before ordering

State the type code with suffix, torque, the trigger model and its rated temperature, and the damper approval basis, since fire damper certification applies to the complete damper assembly and not to the actuator alone. Add the Ex-e terminal box if needed, plus weather shield and shaft adapters. The picture is a manufacturer family image of the size S ExMax and not specifically a BF unit; the type label is not legible at this size.

About brand

Schischek makes explosion-proof HVAC products, including damper and valve actuators, sensors and controllers, and is now a Rotork brand. Seven Star LLC lists the Schischek ExMax and RedMax rotary actuators on this page and supplies them from Muscat as an independent supplier, with each type code checked against the manufacturer's datasheet.

Schischek actuator families listed here

The ExMax line is ATEX tested for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 and comes in a size S housing (5 to 30 Nm) and a size M housing (24 to 150 Nm). The RedMax line shares the size M housing but is tested for zone 2 and zone 22 locations. Versions on this page include 3-position and on-off drives, spring return actuators, the BF type with an Ex-i tripping circuit for fire damper temperature triggers, 4 to 20 mA and modulating Y types with feedback, and a multi-turn type. All run from a 24 to 240 VAC/DC supply unless the datasheet states 24 V only.

Ordering Schischek actuators: what we need

Send the complete type code including the suffix and coating option, the torque, the running time, the supply voltage and the zone and temperature class of the installation. Terminal boxes, brackets, weather shields and shaft adapters are listed in each datasheet as separate accessories, so name them in the request.
