Endress+Hauser Promass F 200 Loop-Powered Coriolis Flowmeter

Description

Promass F 200 loop-powered Coriolis flowmeter for demanding liquids and gases

The Endress+Hauser Promass F 200 is a two-wire, loop-powered Coriolis mass flowmeter built around the Promass F bent dual-tube sensor. It is the high-performance option in the Promass range: mass flow accuracy of ±0.10 % of reading for liquids and ±0.25 % for gases, nominal sizes from DN 8 to DN 80 (3/8 to 3 in), and a medium temperature up to +205 °C with the extended version. Because the transmitter draws its power from the 4-20 mA loop, it can replace older loop-powered instruments without new power cabling. Seven Star LLC supplies the Promass F 200 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

The meter delivers mass flow, density and temperature simultaneously, and the transmitter calculates volume flow, corrected volume flow and reference density.

What the Promass F 200 name means

  • Promass F: the dual-tube sensor with the widest choice of tube materials (904L, 316/316L or Alloy C22) and the highest performance class.
  • 200: the Proline 200 transmitter, loop-powered, with a separate connection compartment, touch-control display with background lighting, and no need to open the housing for operation.
  • Output options are coded: A (4-20 mA HART), B (HART plus pulse/frequency/switch), C (HART plus second 4-20 mA), E (FOUNDATION Fieldbus) and G (PROFIBUS PA).

The sensor, housing, tube material, connection and approvals are chosen through the order code. Send a nameplate photo if you need a like-for-like replacement.

How a loop-powered Promass F 200 works

Two parallel bent tubes vibrate in antiphase at resonance. Flowing fluid causes a phase shift between inlet and outlet pickups proportional to mass flow, while the resonance frequency gives density and the tube temperature is used for compensation. The transmitter is powered from the same pair of wires that carries the 4-20 mA signal, so the minimum supply voltage at the terminals depends on the output current and the loop load. For FOUNDATION Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA the minimum terminal voltage is 9 V with a 32 V maximum. Plan the safety barrier, cable and receiver resistance against these figures.

Connections, materials and hazardous areas for the Promass F 200

Connection types include EN 1092-1 flanges, ASME B16.5 flanges, JIS B2220, DIN 11864-2 flanges, Tri-Clamp, DIN 11851, SMS 1145, ISO 2853 and DIN 11864-1 threads, and 8-VCO-4 or 12-VCO-4 couplings, with optional NAMUR installation lengths to NE 132. The measuring tube can be chosen in three grades, which is the main reason to pick the Promass F 200 over lower-cost models when the fluid is aggressive. Ex-certified versions are covered by separate Endress+Hauser safety instructions and must be matched to your zone; the family can be used for flow monitoring up to SIL 2 single-channel and SIL 3 with redundancy where the functional-safety option is ordered.

Where the Promass F 200 sits in the Promass range

Compared with the Promass E 300, the Promass F 200 gives a tighter accuracy class and a wider material choice, but it is loop-powered with fewer I/Os instead of the Proline 300 multi-I/O approach. The Promass P 100 serves hygienic single-tube duty up to DN 50, the Promass H 300 handles highly corrosive media with tantalum or zirconium tubes, and the Promass A 300 covers very small flows.

Selection checklist for the Promass F 200

  • Fluid compatibility to choose 904L, 316L or Alloy C22 tubes.
  • Flow range per size and whether the extended density option is useful for density-based products.
  • Process temperature, to choose between the standard (+150 °C) and extended (+205 °C) version.
  • Connection, pressure class and, for replacements, NAMUR length.
  • Output code (A, B, C, E or G) and loop supply capability.
  • Zone marking, SIL and certificate requirements.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the Promass F 200

Avoid mounting where gas can collect in the tubes and keep static pressure sufficient to avoid cavitation. No inlet or outlet run is needed. Wire the loop with attention to cable resistance and the supply voltage figures above, perform a zero adjustment at standstill with the line full, and configure through the display, a service interface, FieldCare or DeviceCare. Heartbeat Technology provides verification and monitoring where the application package is ordered.

Typical applications of the Promass F 200 in Oman and the GCC

Loop-powered Coriolis meters are popular for upgrading existing 4-20 mA wiring in refineries, gas processing, LNG and chemical plants. They are used in fuel and solvent loading, additive and chemical injection, steam-heated lines within the temperature limit, and in power and desalination utilities. In summer, shade the transmitter housing and respect the +60 °C ambient limit.

Where Endress+Hauser instruments are used

In Oman and the GCC, Endress+Hauser instruments are common in oil and gas production and processing, refineries and petrochemicals, desalination and water networks, wastewater treatment, power plants and food and beverage plants. Coriolis meters measure hydrocarbon and chemical flows, electromagnetic meters cover water and wastewater, radar transmitters handle tank and silo level, and Liquiline analysers monitor water quality. Proline 300 and 500 flowmeters include Heartbeat Technology for in-situ verification, which reduces the need to remove a meter for checks.

Ordering Endress+Hauser instruments: what we need

The order code on the nameplate (for example PMP71-1QA1S11RDADU) defines every option: measuring range, process connection, materials, output, approvals and display. Send it with the serial number; Endress+Hauser can retrieve the original configuration from the serial number. For a new instrument add the medium, operating and design pressure and temperature, range, line size or tank geometry, process connection, wetted materials, output or protocol (4-20 mA HART, PROFIBUS, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Modbus) and the hazardous-area approval required. Older models such as Promass 80/83 or Micropilot M are replaced by current Proline or 80 GHz Micropilot devices.
