Brand: Flowserve
Flowserve WCC API 610 Multistage Barrel Pump
Description
WCC horizontal multistage double-case barrel pump to API 610
The Flowserve WCC is a medium-duty horizontal multistage pump in a double-case (barrel) construction, built to ISO 13709 / API 610 and the Hydraulic Institute standards. It is intended for services where a single-stage pump cannot reach the required head or where the pressure and temperature call for a barrel casing rather than a split case.
The WCC name covers a small family: WCC itself, WCCD with a double-suction first stage, WCCO with opposed impellers, and WCC-T and WCC-TT turbine-driven arrangements. Seven Star LLC supplies the WCC range in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat; the exact variant is chosen from your duty data.
Please note that this page is built from the manufacturer’s published range data. Detailed construction data (bearings, seals, materials per project) is confirmed on the data sheet for your selection.

How the WCC barrel pump works
A barrel pump has an outer pressure-containing casing and a removable inner cartridge that holds the stages. Liquid enters, passes through the impellers in series and gains head at each stage, and the outer barrel contains the discharge pressure. High-pressure barrel casings are normally closed with a head, so the rotating element can be withdrawn as one cartridge at overhaul.
In the standard WCC the impellers face the same direction. In the WCCO the impellers are arranged in opposition, which balances axial thrust through the rotor. In the WCCD a double-suction first stage lowers the NPSH required, which helps when suction conditions are marginal. The turbine versions are for plants that drive the pump from a steam or other turbine rather than an electric motor.
Where the WCC fits in the plant
Typical WCC duties are boiler feed, high-pressure injection, pipeline and product transfer, and process charge services. For lower heads in the same site, a single-stage OH2 or OH3 pump such as the HPX or HPX-V is usually more economical, while WCC is selected when head or pressure climbs beyond what those machines can offer.
Related items often ordered alongside it are API 682 cartridge seals, for example the BX metal bellows seal, together with the pump’s flush and cooling piping and the actuated isolation and control valves of the same unit.
WCC selection and ordering checklist
- Liquid, specific gravity, viscosity and vapour pressure at pumping temperature.
- Rated and minimum continuous flow, and differential head.
- Suction pressure and available NPSH, which decides between WCC and WCCD.
- Design pressure and temperature to select the flange class (600# to 2500#).
- Driver type: electric motor, or a turbine for WCC-T and WCC-TT.
- Axial thrust approach: standard or opposed impeller (WCCO).
- Seal arrangement and API 682 plan, plus any special material requirement.
- Site data: ambient temperature, area classification, and available lifting space for cartridge removal.
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the WCC
A multistage barrel pump needs a stiff baseplate and careful alignment to the driver. Check pipe strain before and after coupling, vent the casing completely, and bring the pump up to temperature slowly when it handles hot liquid. Protect it with a minimum-flow line, because running far below the best efficiency flow raises vibration and heat.
Maintenance is built around the removable cartridge. Keeping a complete spare cartridge, or at least spare wear parts, shortens outages on critical boiler feed or injection services. Trend vibration, bearing temperature and seal leakage so that wear is found before it becomes a forced outage.
WCC in Oman and the GCC
Barrel pumps of this type serve power and desalination plants with high-pressure feed duties, oil and gas production with injection and export services, and refineries and petrochemical units. In the Gulf climate, cooling water temperature, dust on turbine and motor surfaces and humidity near the coast are practical points to include in the enquiry.
WCC variant overview
| Variant | Purpose |
|---|---|
| WCC | Multistage double-case barrel pump, medium duty |
| WCCD | Double-suction first stage for lower NPSH required |
| WCCO | Opposed impellers for axial thrust balance |
| WCC-T / WCC-TT | Turbine-driven arrangements |
Spare parts and lifecycle support for the WCC
Barrel pumps run for many years between major overhauls, so planning spares early protects availability. Typical critical spares for a multistage barrel pump include a complete rotor or inner element, mechanical seals, bearings, wear rings, balance drum or disc components and casing gaskets. Keeping a pre-assembled spare inner element allows the pump to return to service quickly, because the barrel stays in the pipework while the cartridge is exchanged. When you request spares, include the pump serial number and the original data sheet so that parts can be matched to the as-built configuration.

About brand
Flowserve is the American flow control company for pumps, valves, mechanical seals and valve automation, known through brands such as Durco, Worthington, Byron Jackson, Valtek, Limitorque, Worcester, Logix and Argus. It was formed on 22 July 1997 by the merger of equals of Durco International and BW/IP, whose heritage reaches back to Simpson & Thompson (1790) and Byron Jackson (1872). Flowserve Corporation is headquartered in Irving, Texas, and listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Flowserve pumps, seals, control valves, ball valves, actuators and positioners for process plants in Oman, working from the nameplate data and the manufacturer's documentation.
