Description
Two-stage between-bearings pump for high-head refinery duties
The KSB RPHb is a single-suction, two-stage heavy-duty BB2 process pump to API 610 / ISO 13709. BB2 is the API class for a radially split, between-bearings pump, so the rotor sits between two bearings and the casing is split at right angles to the shaft. KSB lists refineries, petrochemical and chemical industries, and onshore and offshore processes as applications.
Compared with OH2 pumps, KSB states that the RPHb achieves better efficiencies and NPSH values, and its diffuser design with impellers in a back-to-back arrangement balances axial thrust.

Design features
The top-top flange arrangement makes the pump easy to monitor and service, and the suction-side casing cover simplifies rotor removal. Casing and impeller wear rings are replaceable, and the modular design system reduces spare parts stock. The shaft is reinforced and optimised for longer service life. Integrated cooling fins and an optional fan impeller cool the bearing brackets without a separate cooling circuit, and a version with hydrodynamic bearings is available for higher energy density.
