A vertical inline pump that saves floor space in pipe line mounting
The Pentair Aurora 382A is a single-stage vertical inline close-coupled centrifugal pump of the Aurora 380 Series, designed for mounting directly in a pipe line with the suction and discharge nozzles on the same centreline, 180 degrees apart. Pentair notes that vertical pumps significantly reduce the space needed, so two pumps fit in the space of one, and that the motor and bracket assembly can be removed without disturbing the piping.
The suction branch of the 382A is a volute-type inlet that prerotates the liquid in the direction of impeller rotation, which Pentair says minimises pumping noise compared with short-radius inlets. Most parts other than the casing are interchangeable with the Aurora 340 and 360 Series, which helps with spares.

Features that matter in service
A relief line from the seal faces to the pump discharge flushes and vents the seal chamber. The bronze shaft sleeve runs the entire length of the seal box and, with O-ring sealed sleeve and impeller screw, removes the need for a costlier stainless shaft. The casing has a back pull-out arrangement, and case wearing rings prevent casing wear and are inexpensive to replace.

Pentair Aurora 3800 Series pumps
The 3800 Series is a single-stage end suction design: liquid enters axially and leaves through a radial discharge, with one impeller on the shaft. Pentair builds it as the close-coupled Model 3801 and the flexible-coupled Model 3804, and lists it for HVAC, chilled and hot water, pressure boosting, municipal and industrial service. The same casing size can be built with different impeller diameters and motors, so the size alone does not define the pump.
