Caprari CVD Vertical Multistage Electric Pump, Stainless, IE3

Description

In-line vertical multistage pumps for pressure boosting

The Caprari CVD is a range of vertical multistage electric pumps with in-line suction and delivery ports, mechanical seal and a stainless steel hydraulic section, offered in seven wet-end sizes from 031 to 451. Caprari packages each wet end with a close-coupled motor of its own type, with IE3 three-phase efficiency and IP55 protection, and lists the pump as compatible with a variable speed drive. The catalogue code 996203A/08-24 covers 2-pole 50 Hz duty on clean, thin liquids up to +110 C.

A vertical in-line layout saves floor space in pressure boosting skids, water supply and industrial water systems, because pipework enters and leaves on the same axis. Performance data in the catalogue is for cold water at 15 C and atmospheric pressure, guaranteed to UNI/ISO 9906 Grade 3B for series production, and for liquids of 1 kg/dm3 density and a kinematic viscosity of not more than 1 mm2/s.

451 DN80 1 to 8 4 to 22 21.5 to 58 18 to 143 73.3 to 203.8

These ranges are derived from the printed performance and dimension tables; the exact motor, head and weight depend on the stage count and motor code, for example CVD031/4+C30075T211-V. Overall dimensions are listed per model and are indicative; Caprari supplies an executive drawing on request.

Materials and pump coding

Part Material (sizes 031 to 201) Where 321 to 451 differ
Diffuser, impeller, shaft, stage casing Stainless steel Same
Pump casing Stainless steel Cast iron
Pump head Cast iron (321-451 only) Cast iron
Inlet and outlet flanges Cast iron Cast iron
Lantern bracket and base plate Cast iron Cast iron
Bearing Tungsten carbide / ceramic Same
Mechanical seal Silicon carbide / carbon / rubber Tungsten carbide / carbon / rubber
Seal ring Rubber Rubber

A full code such as CVD 15 1 / 7 + C3 0075 T 2 1 reads: series CVD, wet-end size 15 with generation code 1, 7 stages, motor type C with IE3 three-phase (C3), 0.75 kW nominal power (0075), T for three-phase, 2 poles and start code 1. C2 marks a single-phase IE2 motor, and a letter suffix at the end defines variants.

Selecting and installing a CVD

Start from the duty point in m3/h and head in metres, choose the smallest wet-end size whose flow range contains it, then pick the stage count that gives the head with some margin. Size 031 reaches 211 m at its lowest listed flow with 20 stages, while size 451 passes up to 58 m3/h on far fewer stages. For variable demand, the VSD compatibility allows constant-pressure control without a throttle valve.

The listed NPSH values depend on size, for example 1.8 m at 1.1 m3/h on the 031 rising to 3 m at 4.3 m3/h. The catalogue also gives motor technical data for the standardised enclosed electric motors, flange data to EN 1092 and the dimension table with port flange PN (25-40 as printed). The catalogue does not state ambient-temperature or altitude derating for the motor, so confirm those with Caprari for hot-climate installations.

Comparing the seven wet-end sizes

Across the seven sizes the listed weight runs from 31 kg for the smallest 031 build to 204.8 kg for the largest 321 build, and the 451 reaches 203.8 kg (derived from the table). The inlet and outlet diameter steps DN25, DN32, DN40, DN50, DN50, DN65 and DN80. The 151 and 201 share DN50 but differ in motor range, 1.1 to 15 kW against 1.1 to 18.5 kW. The 321 and 451 are the two sizes with a cast iron pump casing and tungsten carbide seal faces, so they are listed separately in the materials table above.

Selection and installation notes

Select a pump from the duty point: the flow, the head, the liquid and its temperature, the supply voltage and the expected operating hours. Check the electrical supply and cable size against the motor rating, install the pump as the manual shows, protect the motor against overload and dry running, and fit non-return and isolation valves in the delivery line. Keep the installation and commissioning record, and plan routine inspection of seals, bearings and wear parts.

A vertical multistage pump needs a firm base and good alignment of the pipework, with no strain on the ports.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

Where the CVD is used and what to confirm

Typical duties are water supply boosting for buildings and compounds, process and washing water, cooling and condensate return, and industrial water at plants where a clean liquid of low viscosity must be raised to 100 m or more of head. Stainless wet-end parts help against aggressive but non-abrasive water. The catalogue does not give seawater, hazardous-area or fire-pump approvals for the CVD, so those are not claimed.
