ABB AF26-30-00-13 3-Pole Contactor 11 kW 100-250 V AC/DC

Description

Compact 11 kW AF26 contactor with a wide-range coil

AF26-30-00-13 is the 3-pole AF26 contactor from ABB’s AF range, listed at 11 kW (15 hp) for AC-3 duty at 400 V. It has three normally open main poles and no auxiliary contact fitted, which makes it the plain power-switching version of the AF26 frame: any signalling contacts are added afterwards as clip-on blocks.

The “-13” suffix identifies the coil. One 100…250 V coil works on 50/60 Hz AC and on DC, so a single stock item covers a 230 V European panel and a 120 V or 208 V North American one. The datasheet describes an electronic coil interface that lowers pull-in and holding consumption and a built-in surge suppressor, so no separate suppressor is needed across the coil.

Reading the AF26 ratings in practice

At 400 V the AF26 carries 26 A in AC-3, which matches the 11 kW motor column in ABB’s table; at 690 V the figure drops to 17 A and 15 kW. For resistive loads, AC-1 current is 45 A at 40 C but only 32 A at 70 C, so a hot enclosure costs about 30 percent of capacity. When no thermal overload relay is fitted, ABB limits short-circuit protection to a 50 A gG fuse, and that protects the contactor only, not the motor.

Operating limits are worth noting for PLC panels: the coil closes between 0.85 x Uc min and 1.1 x Uc max, and the drop-out voltage is at or below 60 percent of Uc min. The datasheet lists 10 million mechanical operating cycles and a maximum of 3600 operations per hour.

Ordering code and neighbouring variants

Read the type as follows: AF26 is the frame, 30 means three main poles, the next 00 means no built-in auxiliary contacts, and the last two digits select the coil. The same datasheet lists -11 (24…60 V), -12 (48…130 V), -13 (100…250 V) and -14 (250…500 V) coils, plus the low-consumption AF26Z family whose 20…60 V DC coils can be driven straight from a 24 V PLC output.

Side-mounted auxiliary blocks such as CA4 or CAL4 and the TF42 or EF19 overload relays attach to this frame. Check the AC/DC coil range against your control supply and decide whether contacts are needed before you order, because the “-00” version has none.

About brand

ABB is the Swiss-Swedish engineering group for electrification and automation: low voltage drives, motors, circuit breakers and motor control, process instruments and analysers, control systems and robots. It was formed on 5 January 1988 by the merger of two older companies. ASEA was founded in Västerås, Sweden, in 1883 by Ludvig Fredholm to make electric lighting and generators. BBC Brown Boveri was founded in Baden near Zurich in 1891 by Charles E. L. Brown and Walter Boveri. ABB Ltd is incorporated in Switzerland, headquartered in Zurich and listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and Nasdaq Stockholm.

Choosing an ABB drive

ABB's ACS drive codes are easy to read once you know the pattern. In ACS580-01-046A-4, "ACS580" is the drive family, "01" means a wall-mounted single drive, "046A" is the rated output current (about 46 A) and "-4" means a 380–480 V supply. The family is chosen by application: ACS355 for compact machinery, ACS310 for simple pumps and fans, ACS580 as the general-purpose drive, ACQ580 for water and wastewater with pump functions such as pipe fill and dry-run protection, and ACS880 for heavy industrial duty with direct torque control. Size the drive on the motor's full-load current, not only its kW rating, and allow derating for the high ambient temperatures common in Gulf electrical rooms.

Where ABB products are used

In Oman and the GCC, ABB drives and motors run pumps, fans and compressors in water and wastewater plants, district cooling, oil and gas and industry. ABB flowmeters, level instruments and analysers are used in water utilities, power and desalination plants and refineries, and SACE breakers protect switchboards in buildings and plants.

Ordering ABB products: what we need

Send the full type code from the nameplate (for example ACS580-01-046A-4 or 266DSH...) and, for spare parts, the ABB ID number (such as 3BSE008508R1 or 1SBL176001R3010). For drives, add the motor power and current and any option codes (+...). For instruments, send the complete order code, which sets range, materials and approvals. Baldor motors are listed on their own brand page.

Frequently Asked Questions

What motor rating does the AF26-30-00-13 cover?
The ABB datasheet lists 11 kW at 400 V and 26 A in AC-3, or 15 hp at 480 V for UL/CSA 3-phase motors.
Which coil voltage does the -13 suffix mean?
The -13 coil accepts 100...250 V at 50/60 Hz and 100...250 V DC, per the order table in the datasheet.
Does this contactor include auxiliary contacts?
No. The AF26-30-00 version has 3 N.O. main poles and no auxiliary contact fitted; add-on blocks are ordered separately.
What fuse protects it if no overload relay is fitted?
ABB gives a 50 A gG fuse up to 500 V AC for contactor protection; this does not replace motor protection.
Can it be mounted on a DIN rail?
Yes. It fits 35 mm rails (7.5 or 15 mm) or can be screw-mounted with two M4 screws placed diagonally.
