Rittal AE 1034.500 Compact Enclosure 300 x 400 x 210 mm

A narrow compact enclosure for small control gear

The Rittal AE 1034.500 is the taller, narrower member of the compact AE enclosure range: 300 mm wide, 400 mm high and 210 mm deep, in sheet steel with a single door, a zinc-plated mounting plate and a gland plate in the base. Its finish is textured RAL 7035 powder coat over a dipcoat primer, and the door has a foamed-in all-round polyurethane seal that gives IP 66 and NEMA 4 protection with IK08 impact class.

Choosing between the AE sizes

With 254 x 375 mm of plate area this enclosure fits a few DIN-rail devices, a compact controller or a junction terminal block. A wider box such as the

Rittal AE 1380.500.

at 380 x 380 mm offers more width, while this model suits narrow wall spaces. The datasheet lists DNV and Lloyds Register approvals as well as UL, and the Bureau Veritas approval shown for the 1380.500 is not listed for this article.

Installation notes

Rittal builds the AE from one folded and welded sheet with a protective channel around the door opening. Wall-mounting brackets, a plastic gland plate, earthing straps, a door stay, a viewing window and a rain canopy are catalogued accessories. The mounting plate sits on depth-adjustable studs. Keep the finish intact when cutting gland openings, and seal unused openings to retain the rated protection.
