Brand:

Weldotherm VAS 82-12 Heat Treatment Unit

Description

A 12-zone resistance unit for PWHT of pipe and vessel welds

The Weldotherm VAS 82-12 belongs to the VAS series, which Weldotherm describes as the top model of its program-controlled heat treatment units. A transformer supplies low-voltage current to ceramic pad heaters on 12 independent zones; each zone follows its own temperature program, or zones are linked in master-slave groups so a large weld seam heats evenly. Programs can run simultaneously or one after another.

Both 30 V and 60 V heater outputs are available, so the same unit can feed small 1 in circumferential welds, fittings or long vessel seams. Faults are signalled visually and audibly.

With the DIGIT 1000 option, a 10.4 in or 12.1 in colour touchscreen replaces the individual controllers. According to its Weldotherm datasheet it holds 100 programs internally (more via recipes on SD card), each with 18 ramp or soak segments, uses two-point, PI or PID control with self-optimisation, logs trend data to SD card or USB stick and can be operated remotely from a PC, tablet or phone through its VNC server. Optional heating-current monitoring flags a failed heating element during the cycle.

Protection and data recording

An emergency-stop main switch, secondary RCD, phase monitoring with front-panel lamps, individual fusing of each heating circuit and a forced shutdown on transformer over-temperature are standard. Temperatures are recorded on a built-in chart recorder or a paperless recorder with CF card, USB and PC software; RS232/485 and Ethernet are optional. The controllers store up to 50 programs.

About brand
WELDOTHERM Gesellschaft für Wärmetechnik mbH, based in Essen, Germany, manufactures equipment for the controlled heat treatment of welds and has worked in this field for more than 40 years. Its range covers resistance and induction heat treatment units, heating elements and inductors, thermocouples, and measuring and control technology for site and workshop use. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat that lists the WR 10,5 inverter unit and sources Weldotherm equipment for preheating and post-weld heat treatment.

Weldotherm heat treatment units

The resistance range runs from the single-channel WR 10,5 inverter, which weighs about 18 kg, to the multi-channel STANDARD EUROPA and VAS series with 2 to 12 control zones for 30 V and 60 V heating elements. The VAI series uses induction, generating heat in the material itself. All units are used with Weldotherm heating mats, cables and Type K thermocouples.

Ordering Weldotherm equipment: what we need

State the unit type, the number of control channels, the site mains voltage and the voltage class of the heating elements you already use. For heating elements, give the type, voltage and dimensions. We check the configuration against Weldotherm datasheets and provide them on request.
