Brand: Normalab
Normalab Chronotech Electronic Stopwatch for Viscosity Tests
Description
A software stopwatch that calculates kinematic viscosity
The Chronotech is a Normalab electronic chronometer built for kinematic viscosity measurements. Instead of timing the flow of a liquid through a capillary tube with a hand stopwatch and then multiplying by the tube constant on paper, the operator enters the tube constant once and the Chronotech calculates the viscosity and shows it on the touch screen. Three measurements can run at the same time, so a three-tube bath can be handled by a single operator.
Normalab lists the Chronotech under ASTM D445, ASTM D446 and IP 71. The leaflet describes it as a software-based stopwatch that is mobile and easy to handle, and the NVB Classic viscosity bath leaflet lists it as an optional accessory with part number 41900.

What is delivered and how it is used
The Chronotech is delivered with the portable stopwatch, its charging dock and a power adaptor; the web page lists a charging station and power adapter. There is no separate option list. The portable unit can be carried to the bath and used next to the viscometers, and position markers make it easy to assign each stopwatch to a tube position.
Typical use is a viscosity laboratory with a thermostatic bath such as the Normalab NVB Classic: the operator draws the sample into each viscometer, waits for temperature equilibrium, then starts the timer when the meniscus passes the upper mark and stops it at the lower mark. With the tube constant stored, the result appears at once, which removes transcription errors and calculation steps. Because the stopwatch is portable, it also suits laboratories that move between several baths or want one timing device shared by a team, and the charging dock keeps it ready between shifts.
What to confirm before ordering
The Chronotech is an accessory, not a bath or viscometer, so confirm that it suits the number of tubes you time at once, that the tube constants you use can be entered, and that a mains outlet is close to the charging dock. Battery autonomy is stated as 3 to 4 hours in the leaflet and 3 hours on the web page, so plan charging between long sessions. Browse related liquid analytical systems.
Enter the tube constant for every viscometer carefully, and keep a printed list of constants beside the bath, so that each of the three stopwatches is always matched to the correct tube position.

About brand
Normalab is a French manufacturer of laboratory instruments for petroleum product testing, established in 1963 and based in Valliquerville, Normandy. The company started out as glassblowers and still runs a glassblowing workshop. For more than 55 years it has designed and built test instruments that follow ASTM, ISO and IP methods, including its NPM 450, the fifth generation of its automated flash point testers.
Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists Normalab spare parts: the 60606 circulation pump for the coolant circuit of the NDI 450 automatic distillation analyzer, and the 60448 thermal detection thermocouple. We source Normalab parts by their five-digit reference number.

Normalab instrument families
The manufacturer arranges its instruments by the property tested: flammability, volatility, viscosity, cold flow properties, cleanliness and purity, lubricants, and bitumen, wax and grease. Its glassware line supports the same tests. The methods referenced are ASTM, ISO and IP. Refinery and fuel quality laboratories in the GCC run these instruments daily, which is why the usual request is for a replacement part rather than a complete instrument.

Ordering Normalab parts: what we need
Send the Normalab reference number of the part, the instrument model and its serial number, and a photo of the instrument nameplate. Where the part is a sensor or pump, a photo of the old item with its connector helps the manufacturer confirm the version fitted to your serial number. If you need a complete instrument, name the test method and the products you test.
