Overview
The Masoneilan 10000 Series Double Port Valve from Baker Hughes is a semi-balanced double-seated control valve designed for high allowable pressure drops with reduced actuator thrust requirements. Its large flow areas make it well suited to dirty fluid applications where standard single-seated valves would be prone to plugging or excessive wear.

Operating Principle
The semi-balanced trim construction of the 10000 Series allows the valve to handle higher pressure drop applications using standard actuation, since the double-seated design partially balances the forces acting on the plug from the process fluid. This reduces the actuator thrust needed compared to an equivalent single-seated valve at the same pressure drop, which in turn helps reduce overall product complexity, assembly size, and weight.
Separate top and bottom guides provide heavy-duty plug and stem support throughout the full valve stroke range, delivering excellent throttling control characteristics and high product reliability even as the valve cycles through repeated open/close and modulating operations over its service life.
Engineering Design of the 10000 Series
Available in sizes from 2 inches through 24 inches (50 through 600 mm), the valve is offered in flanged (ANSI 150-1500, UNI-DIN 10-250), welded (BW or SW), and screwed (NPT 3/4 through 2 inch) end connections, with body materials spanning carbon steel, stainless steel, and chrome-moly to match a wide range of process fluid and temperature requirements. Trim options include V-port or contoured plug designs, both top and bottom guided, with inherent flow characteristics available in equal percentage, linear, or quick opening.
The valve’s top and bottom entry design allows quick access to key trim and soft good components for field maintenance, without requiring the valve to be removed from the line for many repair tasks. It can also be supplied with the Masoneilan LE Packing design for low-emissions performance and constructed for sour service in accordance with NACE MR 0103, MR 0175 (2003 Rev), or ISO 15156 where compliance is required.
