Lovato TMM1 Multifunction Time Relay 0.1 s-10 d, 12-240 V

Description

Lovato TMM1 multifunction time relay, 0.1 s to 10 days, 12-240 V AC/DC

The Lovato TMM1 is a one-module DIN rail time relay that combines several timing functions, multiple time ranges and a multivoltage supply in a single housing 17.5 mm wide. It accepts 12 to 240 V AC or DC, offers a time setting from 0.1 s to 10 days and switches one delayed changeover relay output. Seven Star LLC supplies the TMM1 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

TMM1 is the model code, and the 1 refers to the single relay output. Other models in the time relay catalogue include the TMM2, TMP, TMD and TMST, which offer different function sets, so confirm the function list before ordering.

One relay for many timing jobs

A multifunction relay replaces a shelf of single-function timers: the function, such as on-delay, off-delay, interval or cyclic, is selected by the user, and the time range is chosen from several scales covering 0.1 s to 10 days. A single stocked code therefore covers most requirements and lowers the spares count. The exact list of functions, the number of ranges and the rotary-switch layout should be taken from the instruction sheet, because the data table gives only the overall range.

The 12 to 240 V AC/DC supply with 25 ms micro-break immunity makes it suitable for control circuits fed from batteries, rectifiers or the mains. The power draw, only 0.3 W at low voltage, is small enough for battery-backed circuits.

Where the TMM1 fits

The output switches contactor coils, signal lamps or PLC inputs. Depending on the function selected, it can provide a start delay for sequential pump starts, a run-on delay for cooling fans or a timed pulse, and the external command input allows the timing to be triggered from a separate signal. Sibling relays in the family cover specific functions at lower cost when only one is needed.

TMM1 selection and ordering checklist

  • Required function and time range
  • Control supply voltage and whether AC or DC
  • Contact load against 8 A and the B300 rating
  • Need for external command input
  • Panel space: one module
  • Ambient temperature up to +60 °C

Installation and maintenance of the TMM1

Snap onto the 35 mm DIN rail, wire the supply and the output contact, set the function and range and test with a stopwatch. Terminal torque is 0.8 Nm. Because timers are set by small selectors, protect the settings with a sealed cover or a note on the drawing so that a later technician does not change them by mistake.

Typical TMM1 applications in Oman and the GCC

Typical uses include delayed shutdown of cooling fans in switchrooms, pump sequencing after a power restoration to avoid simultaneous starts, interval control of dosing pumps and lighting timers. Staggered restart after a grid failure is a concrete benefit in the Gulf, where summer peak outages restart many motors at once. Keep a record of each timer setting in the panel schedule so that a replacement unit can be configured identically, and fit a protective cover over the selectors on timers that control safety-related delays.

Setting and testing the TMM1 on site

Choose the range first, then the fine setting, so that the working time lies in the middle of the scale where accuracy is best. For a 30 second delay, a 10 or 60 second scale is more accurate than a 10 minute scale. After setting, run the cycle and time it with a stopwatch, noting the result on the drawing. The data sheet does not state the setting accuracy, so critical process timing should be verified on the actual unit.

Supply dips matter. The 25 ms immunity to micro-breaks means a brief dropout will not reset the timer, but a longer interruption will. If a delayed restart after a power failure is the purpose of the timer, that is the behaviour you want; if the timer is metering a process cycle, consider a battery-backed supply.

Site conditions in Oman for the TMM1

Low-voltage switching and protection devices in Oman often sit in motor control centres and outdoor panels where internal temperatures are high for much of the year. When you select the TMM1, check its rated values at your real ambient temperature, as stated in the manufacturer documentation, and confirm the coordination with upstream protection and with the motor or load it serves. Short-circuit levels differ from site to site, so verify the breaking capacity required at the point of installation.

Standardising ratings and coil voltages across a project reduces the number of spare part numbers that need to be stocked. Keeping a small stock of the TMM1 and recording settings such as trip ranges or ramp times shortens repair work during a breakdown.

About brand

Lovato Electric is the Italian manufacturer of low-voltage electrical components for industrial automation and power distribution: contactors, motor protection circuit breakers, soft starters, variable speed drives, power factor controllers, transfer switch and generator controllers, and energy meters. It was founded in Bergamo in 1922 and has been run by the same family for four generations. Its headquarters is in Gorle, near Bergamo, and it celebrated its centenary in 2022.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lovato motor control, drives and power management products, and supply them to panel builders, contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC by order code.

Lovato order codes describe the product. On a contactor such as BF0910A230, "BF09" is the frame and rated current (9 A in AC-3), "10" is the built-in auxiliary contact (one normally open), "A" means an AC coil and "230" is the coil voltage. The coil voltage must match the control circuit exactly, so it is the most common detail to check when replacing one. For motors, a soft starter limits the inrush current at start and stop, while a variable speed drive controls the speed continuously and saves energy on pumps and fans that do not need full flow all the time.

Where Lovato products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Lovato components are built into motor control centres, pump and HVAC panels, capacitor banks for power factor correction, generator and ATS panels, and machine control panels for industry, water and buildings.
