Overview
The Advantech IPC-623 rackmount chassis is a 4U, 19-inch industrial computer chassis. It takes a backplane with up to 20 slots, or a segmented backplane that runs up to four independent systems in one enclosure. It is part of the Advantech industrial chassis range and is built for PICMG 1.3 system host board (SHB) backplanes. It is used for industrial servers, multi-system platforms and control or data acquisition systems that need many PCI/PCIe expansion cards.
The chassis is fitted with a single ATX power supply of 500 W or 1200 W (80 Plus Gold). It is cooled by three 12 cm, 150 CFM fans through six replaceable air filters. A dual top cover gives access for maintenance. The built-in Intelligent System Module controls the fans and supports remote monitoring when used with selected Advantech boards.

Advantech IPC-623 Ordering Code and Options
The IPC-623 is ordered as a bare chassis with power supply; the backplane and CPU card are chosen separately. The Advantech datasheet from 2019 lists IPC-623BP-50ZC with a 500 W 80 Plus Gold supply and IPC-623BP-1KZC with a 1200 W Gold supply. In the datasheet revised in August 2024 the 500 W entry is IPC-623BP-50ZD with an 80 Plus Bronze supply, while IPC-623BP-1KZC is unchanged. Both versions use a single ATX supply; the 1200 W model needs a power cord with an IEC C19 plug.
Four backplanes are listed for this chassis: two PICMG 1.3 types (PCE-7B19-88B1E and PCE-5B18-88B1E) and two PICMG 1.0 types (PCA-6120P18-0A2E and PCA-6120P12-0A3E), so the same enclosure can host either PCIe/PCI-X/PCI or legacy ISA/PCI cards.
The packing list covers the chassis with handle set, three system fans, a reset button with wire, two front and four side door filters, a key set and the user manual.
Advantech IPC-623 Installation Notes
Rack planning should allow for the full 699 mm depth with front handles, although the chassis body is 658 mm deep; the front panel is 482 mm wide and 177 mm high. The dual top cover lets the fan and drive area be opened without exposing the card cage. The Intelligent System Module only reports fan speed, temperatures and board voltages remotely when a supported Advantech motherboard or CPU card is installed, so confirm board compatibility before relying on remote monitoring.
