Brand:

Advantech UNO-1372G Atom Quad-Core DIN-Rail Control PC with 3 x GbE and 8 DI/O

Description

A compact DIN-rail PC for control cabinets with isolated digital I/O

The Advantech UNO-1372G is a small-size control cabinet PC built around the Intel Atom E3845 quad-core processor at 1.91 GHz. It mounts on a DIN rail or a wall, runs without a fan and combines three Gigabit Ethernet ports, two serial ports, three USB ports, VGA and HDMI outputs and four isolated digital inputs and four isolated digital outputs in one aluminium housing.

Two features set it apart from a plain mini PC. First, the 4-pin terminal block accepts two power inputs, so a failure of one supply does not stop the computer. Second, the iDoor slot takes small modules that turn the unit into a protocol gateway, for example PROFINET or PROFIBUS, or a communication gateway with cellular, GPS or Wi-Fi cards. LAN redundancy (teaming) is listed as a feature.

The datasheet is dated May 2023 and describes an Atom platform, so the operating system list still includes Windows 7, Windows 8, WES7 and AdvLinux alongside Windows 10.

Ordering code, iDoor modules and accessories

The datasheet gives one ordering code, UNO-1372G-E3AE: Atom quad-core 1.91 GHz, 4 GB memory, three LAN ports and two mPCIe slots. Optional embedded images are listed for Windows 10 LTSC (Entry), AdvLinux, Windows Embedded Standard 7 (x86 and x64) and Windows Embedded Compact 7.

iDoor and mPCIe modules named in the sheet include a CFast slot card (PCM-23C1CF-BE), 2-port Gigabit Ethernet (PCM-24R2GL-AE), 2-port USB 3.0 (PCM-24U2U3-BE), 2-port isolated RS-422/485 (PCM-24D2R4-BE), 4-port RS-422/485 (PCM-24D4R4-BE), a Wi-Fi card (PCM-24S2WF-BE) and Hilscher netX fieldbus cards for PROFINET IO-controller or device (PCM-26R2PN-MAE and SAE) and PROFIBUS master or slave (PCM-26D1DB-MAE and SAE). A 60 W, 24 V, 2.5 A supply (PWR-247-DE) and regional power cords are the listed accessories.

What to confirm before ordering

Check the processor generation against your software, because this is an older low-power platform. Specify the operating system image, the iDoor module and the supply voltage. Advantech notes that optional modules can add certification requirements, so ask for compliance details if a radio or fieldbus card is fitted.

How the Advantech UNO-1372G works

The PC runs an operating system on the Atom quad-core processor and has no fan. Its aluminium housing carries the heat away. Field signals come in through the isolated digital inputs and go out through the outputs. The serial and Ethernet ports link it to the machines and to the network.

Where the UNO-1372G is used

  • Control cabinets
  • Protocol gateways with iDoor modules
  • Edge data collection
  • Machine monitoring
  • Small automation controllers

About brand

ADAM modules are how many instrument and SCADA engineers first come across Advantech. The Taiwanese company, founded in 1983 and based in Taipei, makes industrial computers, remote I/O and communication hardware. Seven Star LLC supplies Advantech automation products to system integrators and plant teams in Oman, and this page lists items such as an ADAM-6000 Ethernet I/O module, an ADAM-4000 serial converter and an IPC rackmount chassis.

Advantech ADAM and IPC products listed here

The ADAM-6017 is an 8-channel analog input module from the ADAM-6000 Ethernet I/O family. It brings voltage and current signals onto a network and is read by SCADA or PLC software over Modbus TCP. The ADAM-4520 belongs to the ADAM-4000 serial family and converts RS-232 to isolated RS-422 or RS-485, a common fix for linking a PC or panel to field devices. The IPC-623 is a 4U, 20-slot rackmount chassis that houses a backplane, CPU card and expansion cards for control room computers.

Ordering Advantech hardware: what we need

Send the full part number with its suffix. Advantech adds letters after the model, as in ADAM-6017-D, to mark the hardware revision, and existing configurations sometimes depend on it. For an IPC chassis, state the backplane, power supply and drive bay arrangement, since these are ordered as specific versions. We supply across the GCC and check part numbers against Advantech documentation.
