Brand:

Axiomtek eBOX710A Fanless Embedded System

Description

A fanless LGA1200 system with a PCIe x4 slot and four GbE ports

The Axiomtek eBOX710A is a fanless embedded system with an LGA1200 socket for 11th and 10th Generation Intel Core i9, i7, i5, i3 and Celeron processors (Comet Lake-S) up to 65 W on the Intel H420E chipset. A single PCIe x4 slot is its main difference from the smaller eBOX units: it can hold an I/O or acquisition card without moving to a full industrial PC.

Four Gigabit LAN ports, four serial ports, two HDMI outputs and a DisplayPort, with dual-view support, are all on the case, which measures 280 x 210 x 80.5 mm. Input power is 9 to 48 VDC and the unit is specified from -40 C.

Using the PCIe x4 slot and Mini PCIe options

The PCIe x4 slot allows a half-height card such as a frame grabber, serial expansion or fieldbus card, subject to mechanical and power limits that should be checked against the manual. For smaller additions the manufacturer lists Mini PCIe modules: COM (AX92906), CAN bus (AX92903), LAN (AX92902) and dual LAN (AX92918), plus a DIO cable.

The temperature rating depends on CPU power, so choose a 35 W processor if the cabinet gets close to +70 C.

Items to specify when requesting a quote

List the processor, memory and storage, the PCIe card (if any), the wireless module and the mounting kit; wall-mount and DIN-rail kits and a 24 V 120 W adapter are listed. Confirm the operating system: the datasheet lists Windows 11 IoT and Linux.

How the Axiomtek eBOX710A works

The eBOX710A is a complete computer in a sealed aluminium case without a fan. The processor, chipset and memory sit inside, and the heat is carried to the finned case, which gives it off to the air. With no fan, there is no moving part to wear out and no dust is drawn in. The system runs from a wide DC supply of 9 to 48 VDC and has four Gigabit LAN ports, four serial ports and several display outputs. A PCIe x4 slot takes an expansion card, so the system can be extended without moving to a larger industrial PC.

Where the eBOX710A is used

  • Machine vision with a frame grabber card in the PCIe slot
  • Factory automation and data collection
  • Edge computing and gateways with several LAN ports
  • Transport and infrastructure cabinets
  • Digital signage with two HDMI outputs and a DisplayPort
  • Serial device servers with the RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 ports

Selection checklist for the eBOX710A

  • Processor class, 10th or 11th generation Core or Celeron, in 35 W or 65 W
  • Memory up to 64 GB of DDR4-2933 in two SO-DIMM slots
  • Storage, two 2.5 inch SATA drives and two mSATA
  • Expansion card for the PCIe x4 slot and its size and power
  • Wireless module in the M.2 Key B slot with the SIM slot
  • Cabinet temperature, up to 70 degrees C with a 35 W processor or 60 degrees C with 65 W
  • Supply voltage of 9 to 48 VDC
  • Mounting space of 280 x 210 x 80.5 mm

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Mount the system where air can reach the case, and keep to the airflow stated for the temperature rating. Fit wide-temperature memory and storage when the unit runs in a hot cabinet. Connect the DC supply with the correct polarity and fuse it. Install the operating system and the drivers, and set the serial ports to RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 as needed. Check the BIOS settings and keep a copy. Inspect the connectors for tightness after commissioning.

About brand

Axiomtek, founded in 1990 and based in New Taipei City, Taiwan, designs embedded systems, edge computing and industrial IoT hardware. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Axiomtek fanless eBOX computers and front-access IPC industrial systems such as the eBOX671B and the IPC980, each with the manufacturer datasheet.

Axiomtek product families

The eBOX line covers compact fanless computers with wide DC input, from small Alder Lake-N units to LGA1700 systems with MXM graphics. The IPC line uses a vertical front-access chassis with optional PCIe slot cages for add-in cards, and one IP67 model with M12 connectors. Operating ranges, power input and I/O differ between models, so the datasheet should be read against the application, for example whether a -40 C rating, ignition control or a given number of serial ports is needed.

Ordering Axiomtek systems

Send the full order code including the suffix, plus the processor, memory, storage and any I/O modules or mounting kits. Most systems in the range are ordered without CPU, memory and drives, so those must be specified separately, and wide-temperature parts are sorted through the manufacturer. The datasheet ordering section also lists mounting kits, adapters and add-on modules for each model.
