Brand:

Advantech IPC-610-L 4U 15-Slot Rackmount Industrial Chassis

Description

A 4U rackmount chassis for up to 15 expansion cards

The Advantech IPC-610-L is a 4U, 19 inch rackmount industrial chassis that takes either an ATX motherboard or a backplane with up to 15 slots. It is the classic rackmount PC enclosure for control rooms, test benches and data acquisition racks where cards must stay seated under vibration.

The datasheet highlights a shock-resistant drive cage for three 5.25 inch drives and one 3.5 inch drive, a hold-down clamp with rubber cushions that protects the cards from shock and vibration, and a lockable front door that prevents unauthorised access. A 12 cm fan rated 82 CFM and a front-accessible air filter keep maintenance simple, and front LEDs show power and drive activity.

The same sheet covers the IPC-611, which is the black version of the chassis without the Advantech logo; the IPC-610-L is beige with the logo.

Ordering codes and power supplies

The datasheet splits the range into backplane and motherboard versions. Backplane versions are IPC-610BP-00LD (no supply) and IPC-610BP-30LD with a 300 W ATX supply. Motherboard versions are IPC-610MB-00LD (no supply), IPC-610MB-30LD (300 W) and IPC-610MB-50LD (500 W), all beige, and IPC-611MB-00C in black without a supply.

Power supply options are PS8-250ATX-ZE (250 W), PS8-300ATX-ZBE (300 W) and PS8-500ATX-BB (500 W), all single-output 80 Plus Bronze units for 100 to 240 VAC full-range input. Accessories include the IPC-DT-5230E mobile rack, which converts two 5.25 inch bays into three 3.5 inch SATA drive trays, GPU power cables and spare fan and door filters.

The device pictures are shown without devices; drives, boards and supplies are fitted only where a part number includes them.

What to confirm before ordering

Decide first between backplane and motherboard versions, then the supply wattage. If a high-end GPU card is planned, the sheet notes that only supplies of 500 W or more support the listed GPU power cables. Check card length and slot standard against the backplane you intend to fit.

How the Advantech IPC-610-L works

The IPC-610-L is an enclosure, not a computer by itself. It holds a motherboard or a backplane with a single-board computer, a power supply and the drives. Its steel frame fixes the cards in place with a hold-down clamp that has rubber cushions, so vibration does not loosen them. A 12 cm fan pulls air through a filter on the front and across the cards, and the air leaves at the rear. The front door can be locked, and the power switch, reset button and indicator lights are behind it.

Where the IPC-610-L is used

  • Control rooms and equipment racks
  • Test benches and test automation
  • Data acquisition systems with many expansion cards
  • Machine vision and imaging stations
  • Telecom and industrial communication racks
  • Systems that need drives behind a lockable door

Selection checklist for the IPC-610-L

  • Backplane or ATX motherboard version, and the number of slots needed up to 15
  • Power supply: none, 300 W or 500 W, and ATX or redundant needs
  • Drives: three 5.25 inch bays and one 3.5 inch bay
  • Rack depth available, since the chassis is 479 mm deep
  • Operating temperature of 0 to 40 degrees C
  • Beige IPC-610-L or the black IPC-611 version
  • Rear panel openings for serial ports
  • Card length and the cards for the slots

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Mount the chassis in the rack with rails or brackets that carry its weight of about 14.5 kg. Fit the backplane or motherboard, seat the cards, and lower the hold-down clamp on them. Check that the airflow is not blocked at the front or the rear. Clean or replace the air filter at regular intervals, as it is accessible from the front. Check the fan for noise and speed during service visits.

Requesting a quotation for the Advantech IPC-610-L

Please send the ordering code, the power supply, the number of cards and the quantity. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

IPC-610-L ordering codes

Backplane versions are IPC-610BP-00LD without a supply and IPC-610BP-30LD with a 300 W ATX supply. Motherboard versions are IPC-610MB-00LD, IPC-610MB-30LD and IPC-610MB-50LD. The black IPC-611MB-00C comes without a supply.

IPC-610-L environment

In operation the chassis tolerates 10 to 85 percent humidity at 40 degrees C, non-condensing, and vibration of 1 Grms. Out of operation it tolerates -20 to 60 degrees C and 2 G.

IPC-610-L front panel

The front has a power switch, a system reset button, and LEDs for power and drive activity.

IPC-610-L size

The chassis measures 482 x 177 x 479 mm, which is 4U in a 19 inch rack.

About brand

ADAM modules are how many instrument and SCADA engineers first come across Advantech. The Taiwanese company, founded in 1983 and based in Taipei, makes industrial computers, remote I/O and communication hardware. Seven Star LLC supplies Advantech automation products to system integrators and plant teams in Oman, and this page lists items such as an ADAM-6000 Ethernet I/O module, an ADAM-4000 serial converter and an IPC rackmount chassis.

Advantech ADAM and IPC products listed here

The ADAM-6017 is an 8-channel analog input module from the ADAM-6000 Ethernet I/O family. It brings voltage and current signals onto a network and is read by SCADA or PLC software over Modbus TCP. The ADAM-4520 belongs to the ADAM-4000 serial family and converts RS-232 to isolated RS-422 or RS-485, a common fix for linking a PC or panel to field devices. The IPC-623 is a 4U, 20-slot rackmount chassis that houses a backplane, CPU card and expansion cards for control room computers.

Ordering Advantech hardware: what we need

Send the full part number with its suffix. Advantech adds letters after the model, as in ADAM-6017-D, to mark the hardware revision, and existing configurations sometimes depend on it. For an IPC chassis, state the backplane, power supply and drive bay arrangement, since these are ordered as specific versions. We supply across the GCC and check part numbers against Advantech documentation.
