AMETEK Land FGA Series Compact Multi-Gas Analyser
Description
AMETEK Land FGA series compact multi-gas flue gas analyser
The AMETEK Land FGA series is a compact, integrated extractive CEMS that measures carbon monoxide (CO), nitric oxide (NO) and oxygen (O2) in flue gas and calculates CO2, NOx and, as an option, combustion efficiency. It is built for smaller combustion sources burning natural gas or biomass and is housed in a weatherproof powder-coated steel enclosure sealed to IP65 (NEMA 4).
“FGA” stands for flue gas analyser. The series name covers the analyser with its choice of probe, sample line, calibration and temperature options rather than a single ordering code, so the exact configuration is fixed from your process data. Seven Star LLC supplies the FGA series in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

How the FGA extractive sampling system works
Flue gas is drawn through a sample probe and transported through a sample line to the analyser. Inside, a chiller removes moisture and a filter removes particulate. The sample then passes the sensor modules. A pair of sensors is used for each gas species and the two sensors alternate every 30 minutes; the manufacturer states that this extends sensor life and holds a stable baseline, which matters for low-level readings.
The main internal assemblies are the sample chiller, sample and air pumps, sensor modules, the optional automatic calibration manifold, power supply and control electronics, and the relay and 4–20 mA connection area. The tidy layout is aimed at easy servicing without specialist skills.
FGA probes, sample lines and options
A range of heated and unheated probes, filters and sample lines is available. For MCERTS applications the SP2000 probe with a heated filter is required. The sample line can be unheated or freeze-protected, and optional heating or cooling of the enclosure extends the operating climate.
Other options include automatic calibration, which allows unattended operation, and a combustion efficiency calculation to BS 845. Lower ranges than those certified can be selected, but they do not carry QAL1 approval.
Where the FGA series fits and what it does not cover
The FGA suits combustion where SO2 is below 50 ppm. AMETEK lists natural gas-fired boilers, biomass boilers, reciprocating engines, distributed power generation and process heaters. The manufacturer states the FGA is not recommended for coal or fuel oil, so a diesel- or HFO-fired plant in the Gulf needs a different analyser or a version designed for SO2 measurement.
In the AMETEK Land emissions range, dust is handled by separate instruments such as the 4650-PM and 4750-PM particulate monitors, while the FGA provides gas emissions and combustion data.
Selection and ordering checklist for the FGA series
- Fuel: natural gas or biomass, with SO2 below 50 ppm.
- Gas ranges: CO, NO and O2 ranges that suit permit limits; certified ranges for QAL1.
- Approval route: MCERTS, EN 15267 or EPA PS-2/3/4.
- Probe type and sample line length; MCERTS needs SP2000 with heated filter.
- Ambient: standard 0 to 35 °C, or the 50 °C or -20 °C option.
- Calibration: manual or automatic, with the calibration gases arranged.
- Supply voltage: 100–120 V AC or 190–240 V AC.
- Outputs: four 4–20 mA and relays to your DCS or logger.
Installation, commissioning and maintenance
The enclosure weighs 53 kg and measures 600 × 600 × 350 mm, so a solid wall or frame mount is needed. Keep the sample line short, correctly sloped and protected against condensation. Shade matters in Gulf summers: the standard ambient range stops at 35 °C, so a hot outdoor location normally calls for the 50 °C option or a shaded, ventilated position.
Commissioning includes leak testing of the sample path, a two-point calibration with standard gases and setting of alarm relays. Routine maintenance covers the chiller condensate, sample filter, pumps and periodic calibration. Spare sensor modules and filters should be held for plants that must keep continuous monitoring.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
Typical uses are gas-fired boilers and heaters at industrial plants, gas engines and small power sets, and biomass units. Operators monitor CO and NO emissions to meet permit limits and O2 to tune combustion, which saves fuel. Remote or small sites benefit from the unattended calibration option.

About brand
AMETEK is the American maker of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, headquartered in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1930 as American Machine and Metals. In process industries it is known through brands such as Western Research (sulfur recovery and H2S analysers), Thermox (oxygen analysers), Land (pyrometers), Drexelbrook (RF level) and Chandler Engineering.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list AMETEK process analysers, pyrometers, portable testers and spare parts, and supply them to gas plants, refineries and power stations in Oman and the GCC.
AMETEK company profile

AMETEK products we list
| Product | Type | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 888, 900, 930 | Western Research sulfur recovery analysers | Tail gas, air demand and H2S in sulfur pits on Claus units |
| 931, 933, 9900RM/WM | UV gas analysers | H2S in natural gas and multi-component process streams |
| 5000, 3050-OLV, 5100HD, 5100P | Moisture analysers | Water content in natural gas and process gases; the 5100 models use TDLAS |
| 241CE II, Chanscope II / Model 13 | Dew point analysers and testers | Hydrocarbon and water dew point of natural gas |

| 120HD, Ranarex, Drexelbrook RCT-1210 | Portable analysers and level | Hydrogen purity in generators, gas specific gravity, RF level measurement |
Most of these analysers work on light absorption. UV analysers such as the 933 and 9900 measure H2S and SO2 by their absorption bands, and tail gas analysers use this to keep the H2S to SO2 ratio near 2:1 for the best Claus conversion. TDLAS moisture analysers use a tuned laser on a single water line, so they respond fast and do not suffer from the glycol and methanol contamination that affects sensor-based analysers.
Where AMETEK instruments are used
In Oman and the GCC, AMETEK analysers run on gas processing and sulfur recovery units, gas pipelines and custody points, refinery heaters and boilers, power station generators and steel and cement furnaces.
