Brand:

Hydac TFP 104-000 PT 100 Temperature Probe, Binder M18

Description

A PT 100 probe designed for tank installation

The Hydac TFP 104-000 (HYDAC part number 904696) is a precision temperature probe with a PT 100 resistor in a four-conductor circuit. HYDAC developed it mainly for installation in tanks, and it connects directly to the HYDAC ETS 3800, ETS 380 and ETS 1700 temperature switches. The standardised electrical connection also lets a PLC or other evaluation device use it.

The 4 in the code marks the Binder series 714 M18 four-pole male connector, and the matching mating connector is supplied. The 6 version, TFP 106-000, uses an M12x1 plug instead.

Choosing probe and sleeve

Without a sleeve the brass probe is screwed or clamped where the medium is not under significant pressure. If the tank must stay sealed or the probe has to be removed without draining, the optional nickel-plated sleeve (part number 906170, 10 bar rated) is used. The sleeve is not supplied with the probe, so order it separately, and confirm the fitting and wrench size from the datasheet drawing.

Using it with HYDAC switches

The ETS 3800 for separate probes is the natural partner, and its datasheet names the TFP 104-000 and TFP 106-000 as the compatible probes. The four-conductor design removes most of the lead resistance error, but the accuracy of the overall measurement still includes the PT 100 tolerance class. With the ETS 3866 the display range may be limited by the probe, so stay inside -40 to +125 °C.

Typical places for the probe are the return side of a hydraulic tank, a gearbox or lubrication reservoir, and a cooler outlet, where the oil temperature drives fan or heater switching. The 6 mm diameter and 95.5 mm length make it a small insert, and the brass body is resistant to common mineral oils, but check compatibility if the fluid is a water-glycol or phosphate-ester type. Mount the sensing length in the flowing medium, do not bend the probe, and wire it as a four-conductor circuit so that cable resistance does not shift the reading. If you want the M12x1 plug for compact cabling, state the 6 variant in the enquiry.

If the probe is replaced in an existing installation, compare the old and new connector style first, since the 4 and 6 versions use different plugs. Ask for the datasheet drawing if you need the thread or sleeve dimensions before ordering.

About brand

HYDAC is the German hydraulics group known for hydraulic filters, accumulators and electronic pressure and temperature sensors. It was founded in 1963 in Sulzbach, Saarland, by Werner Dieter and Otmar Schön. The name comes from "hydraulic accumulator", the first product it made under licence. It is still a family company headquartered in Sulzbach.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list HYDAC filters, filter elements, accumulators, pressure transmitters and switches, and supply them for hydraulic power units, turbines, compressors and mobile machines in Oman and the GCC.

Most hydraulic failures start with dirty or wet oil. That is why a system has filters at several points: a pressure filter in front of sensitive valves, a return filter that cleans what comes back to the tank, and a breather that stops dust and humidity entering as the oil level moves. The filter element's rating (for example 3, 10 or 25 µm) and its material decide what cleanliness class the oil reaches. On HYDAC sensors, the type code also sets the pressure range, the output and the connector. For example, HDA 4445-A-400-000 is a 4-20 mA transmitter for 0-400 bar.

Where HYDAC products are used

In Oman and the GCC, HYDAC filters, accumulators and sensors are used on turbine and compressor lube oil systems, hydraulic power units, offshore and marine hydraulics, cranes, presses, steel and aluminium plants, and construction and mobile machines.

Ordering HYDAC products: what we need

Send the full HYDAC type code or part number from the label. For filter elements, the element code on the end cap (for example 0160 D 010 BN4HC) gives the size, filter type, micron rating and material. For accumulators, send the volume, pressure rating and connection. For sensors, send the pressure range, output signal and connector.
