Description
A compact 400 bar filter for pump outlet lines
The Hydac HFM is a compact inline pressure filter with a ductile iron head and a cold-extruded steel bowl. It is rated at 400 bar and is meant for lines where space is tight and pressure is high, such as pump outlets on mobile machines and small power units.
Two sizes are listed, HFM 75 and HFM 95, with flow up to 140 l/min. A bypass valve is standard, and the clogging indicator sits on top of the head so it stays visible when the filter is installed in a block or frame.

Model code and replacement parts
The datasheet example is HFM ON 75 S J 10 D 1 .X /-L24: series, Optimicron element, size 75, pressure letter S (400 bar), port J (G1), 10 µm, a visual-and-electrical indicator (D), type code 1, modification X and a 24 V lamp. Indicator letters are W (no port), A (screw plug), B (visual), C (electrical) and D (visual and electrical). Supplementary details are B7 for the standard bypass, lamp voltage (L24 to L220) or LED, FPM seals and HFA or HFC suitability.
The replacement element is 0075 D 010 ON or the 0095 equivalent, and the matching indicator is VD 5 D .X.
Installation notes
The filter is installed inline. Earth the housing, and switch off the supply before unplugging an electrical indicator. Compatible fluids are mineral hydraulic oils H to HLPD, lubrication and compressor oils and the biodegradable HETG, HEES and HEPG types; fluids with a water content above 50 percent are available on request.
Confirm the connection (G3/4 or G1), the micron rating and whether the indicator should be electrical when you order. For an exact replacement, the old filter’s nameplate code removes any doubt about size and pressure class.
For sizing, the datasheet gives gradient coefficients in mbar per l/min at 30 mm2/s. For Optimicron elements the HFM 75 values are 5.40 at 10 µm and 2.48 at 20 µm, and the HFM 95 values are 4.33 and 1.92. Total pressure drop is the housing drop plus flow times coefficient, scaled in proportion to viscosity, which is why a cold start with thick oil shows a much higher differential pressure than the same filter at running temperature.
