Hydac EDS 4348-0016-1-PP-000-F1 Programmable Pressure Switch
Description
A field-programmable low-pressure switch that cuts stock variants
The Hydac EDS 4348-0016-1-PP-000-F1 (HYDAC part number 920087) belongs to the EDS 4300 series. Unlike factory-set pressure switches, it is programmed with the HYDAC HPG 3000 programming unit, which is ordered separately. After the unit is unplugged, the switch keeps the settings and cannot be adjusted by accident, which is why a single programmable model can replace many fixed set-point versions in the warehouse.
The pressure cell is a thick-layer strain gauge on a ceramic membrane for low-pressure applications up to 16 bar. This code gives one PNP output with FKM seal and a stainless steel connection.

Order code
The datasheet code EDS 4 3 4 8 – XXXX – X – P X – 000 – X 1 decodes as follows for this part: 4 is the G1/4 A port, 8 the five-pole M12x1 plug, 0016 the range in bar, 1 the number of switching outputs, P the programmable output technology, the second P the PNP transistor type (N would be NPN), 000 the standard modification, F the FKM seal and 1 the stainless steel connection. The datasheet lists ranges of 1, 2.5, 6, 10 and 16 bar and two vacuum-compound ranges.
Programming and spares
The portable HPG 3000 unit connects through the Comport on pin 5. An ATEX version of the series exists, but that is a separate order code, so do not assume this part carries an Ex approval. Keep the programming unit with your service tools: it is also useful as the baseline for replacing a failed switch with identical settings.
In a plant with many similar circuits, one programmable model can be configured as a low-pressure alarm in one place and a pump permissive in another, which keeps the spares list short. Because each unit is configured after installation, record the set values in the machine documentation and keep the HPG 3000 available for commissioning or replacement.
Programmable switching means one device can serve several roles by changing its parameters. Document the values you set, protect them with the access code if the device offers one, and keep the original datasheet next to the machine records for later service work.
Defining the switching task first
A programmable switch only performs well when the switching task is clearly defined before it is set up. For each location, write down the normal operating pressure, the pressure at which the switch must act, the direction of the change (rising or falling), and what the output should do in a healthy state. A low-pressure alarm on a lubrication circuit, for example, is usually configured so that a loss of signal is treated as a fault, while a pump permissive may need the opposite logic. Choose hysteresis wide enough to avoid chattering around the switch point when pressure fluctuates, and use the switching delay to ignore short pressure spikes without masking a genuine fault.
Confirm the selection against the basic data: a 0 to 16 bar range, an overload limit above any surge the circuit can produce, a G1/4 A port that matches the existing tapping, and a PNP input on the PLC or relay that receives the signal.
Installation and set-up sequence
- Fit the switch into a clean port and tighten it to the torque stated in the specifications, turning on the hexagon rather than the body.
- Choose a mounting point that avoids direct exposure to pressure pulsation from pumps or valves where possible.
- Wire the M12 connector according to the datasheet pin assignment, keeping supply voltage within the listed range.
- Connect the HPG 3000, enter the switch point, hysteresis, output direction and delay, and then disconnect it.
- Test the function by raising or lowering the system pressure through the switch point and confirm the receiving input responds correctly.
- Record the final settings against the tag number in the machine documentation.
Hydraulic systems in GCC conditions
Hydraulic power units, mobile machinery and lubrication systems in Oman often run at high oil and ambient temperatures. Keep both within the fluid and operating temperature limits on this page, and avoid placing the switch close to hot surfaces or in direct sun on exposed equipment. The IP 67 rating applies with a mating connector fitted, so make sure the connector is fully screwed home and that cables are routed with a drip loop. Dust and sand around hydraulic fittings should be cleaned away before a switch is removed or refitted, to keep contamination out of the system.
Routine checks and RFQ information
During planned maintenance, compare the actual switching pressure with the documented setting using a reference gauge, check the connector and cable for damage, and confirm the alarm or interlock still acts on the control system. If the settings need to change, use the HPG 3000 and update the records at the same time.
For a quotation, include the HYDAC part number 920087 or the full model code, the quantity, whether an HPG 3000 programming unit is also required, and a short description of the switching task so the selection can be reviewed.

About brand
HYDAC is the German hydraulics group known for hydraulic filters, accumulators and electronic pressure and temperature sensors. It was founded in 1963 in Sulzbach, Saarland, by Werner Dieter and Otmar Schön. The name comes from "hydraulic accumulator", the first product it made under licence. It is still a family company headquartered in Sulzbach.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list HYDAC filters, filter elements, accumulators, pressure transmitters and switches, and supply them for hydraulic power units, turbines, compressors and mobile machines in Oman and the GCC.

Most hydraulic failures start with dirty or wet oil. That is why a system has filters at several points: a pressure filter in front of sensitive valves, a return filter that cleans what comes back to the tank, and a breather that stops dust and humidity entering as the oil level moves. The filter element's rating (for example 3, 10 or 25 µm) and its material decide what cleanliness class the oil reaches. On HYDAC sensors, the type code also sets the pressure range, the output and the connector. For example, HDA 4445-A-400-000 is a 4-20 mA transmitter for 0-400 bar.
Where HYDAC products are used
In Oman and the GCC, HYDAC filters, accumulators and sensors are used on turbine and compressor lube oil systems, hydraulic power units, offshore and marine hydraulics, cranes, presses, steel and aluminium plants, and construction and mobile machines.
Ordering HYDAC products: what we need
Send the full HYDAC type code or part number from the label. For filter elements, the element code on the end cap (for example 0160 D 010 BN4HC) gives the size, filter type, micron rating and material. For accumulators, send the volume, pressure rating and connection. For sensors, send the pressure range, output signal and connector.
