Omega PR-11 RTD probes
The PR-11 is a sheathed resistance temperature probe with lead wires, used for immersion and general process measurement. With Omega probes the part number is the specification: it spells out the number of lead wires, the element resistance, the sheath diameter, the sheath length and a temperature range code. A probe that differs in a single field will read correctly but may not fit the thermowell or reach the transmitter.

01How do I identify the right Omega PR-11 probe?
Use the full Omega part number, which begins with PR-11 and continues with fields for the number of leads, element resistance, sheath diameter, probe length and a temperature range letter, followed by any termination option. 02What is the difference between 2-, 3- and 4-wire RTD probes?
The extra wires let the measuring instrument cancel the resistance of the lead wires. A 2-wire probe includes lead resistance in the reading, a 3-wire probe compensates for it in most industrial transmitters, and a 4-wire probe removes it almost completely for laboratory work. The probe must match the input type of the transmitter or indicator it connects to.
