Description
A 70 A micro TIG torch for very small parts
The CK Worldwide MR70 Micro Torch is a gas-cooled TIG torch rated at 70 A, ACHF or DCSP, at 100% duty cycle. CK describes it as the smallest TIG torch on the market. Its slim neck and tiny heads let the welder work on jewellery-scale parts, thin foils, small tubes, medical and instrument components, mould repair and tool-room work, where a standard torch head would block the view of the weld pool.
The head is interchangeable between 45, 90 and 180 degree versions, and torch packages are supplied complete with the AK-MR accessory kit plus a tungsten stick-out gauge and wrench.

Fitting the head and setting up
The neck insulator MRTI deliberately projects beyond the torch neck. CK instructs that firm pressure is applied when a head is first installed, so the insulator flares and forms a positive seal against the head. Before first use, tighten regulator, hose and power cable fittings, secure the knurled hose fittings with small pliers, and purge the regulator and torch with argon; CK recommends repeating the purge whenever a fitting has been opened. The manual also gives a current and argon flow chart by tungsten size and tungsten grinding guidance, which is especially useful at the very low currents this torch is built for.
When to choose a micro torch
The MR70 is a specialist tool: its value is visibility and access, not current. For general sheet and tube work above 70 A, a compact standard torch such as the CK9 or the gas-cooled CK24 is more suitable, and water-cooled models such as the 250 A CK20 cover heavier work. CK also offers a water-cooled micro torch, the 140 A MR140, for higher current in a similar format.
