KISWEL K-71TM E71T-1C/-1M Flux-Cored Wire

Description

All-position titania flux-cored wire for 490 MPa steel

The KISWEL K-71TM is a titania-type gas-shielded flux-cored wire for welding 490 MPa high tensile steel in all positions. KISWEL names machinery, shipbuilding, offshore structures, bridges and general fabrication as typical applications, and describes low spatter, a smooth bead shape and high X-ray soundness.

The wire carries both the CO2 and the mixed-gas AWS designations (E71T-1C and E71T-1M), and the manufacturer notes that the argon-CO2 mixture gives the best weldability.

Choosing gas, diameter and packaging

A rutile flux-cored wire of the T-1 type is mainly chosen for productivity in positional work: the fast-freezing slag supports the pool in vertical-up and overhead welds, so the same wire and parameters can often be used around a node or ring seam. Because K-71TM is classified for both gases, the procedure should be qualified with the gas actually used in the shop; the typical values on the datasheet are given for the argon-CO2 mixture.

The hydrogen designations differ by gas and standard (H5 and H10 under EN ISO 17632, H8 under AWS A5.36), so check which designation your specification calls for. For wire feeders with long conduits or robotic cells, the 100–300 kg pail packs reduce spool changes; 5 to 20 kg spools suit portable feeders.

Approvals are listed by society only. If your project needs a specific approval grade, ask for the current certificate when you request a quotation. For a solid-wire alternative on the same steels, see the KISWEL KC-28 ER70S-6 MIG wire.

Flux-cored wire is softer than solid wire, so use knurled or U-groove drive rolls sized for the diameter and avoid excessive roll pressure, which can flatten the tube and cause erratic feeding. Store opened spools in dry conditions, as the flux can pick up moisture that shows up as porosity or higher diffusible hydrogen.

Typical weld metal values are example test results; the classification minimums are the figures to use in design calculations and procedure qualification records.

About brand
KISWEL is a South Korean manufacturer that has focused solely on welding consumables since the 1970s. KISWEL Co., Ltd. was founded in 1973 after the welding business started as a department in 1969, and the company is headquartered in Seoul with two manufacturing plants and an R&D center in Korea. Its range covers covered electrodes, solid wires, flux-cored wires and submerged arc consumables. KISWEL welding consumables The product program spans mild steel and high-tensile solid MIG/MAG wires, heat-resistant and low-temperature wires, rutile and metal-cored flux-cored wires, stainless and nickel-base fillers, and wire-and-flux combinations for submerged arc welding. Outside Korea the company operates manufacturing plants in the U.S., Malaysia and China, and lists a Dubai branch among its overseas offices. Ordering KISWEL wire and electrodes: what we need Give the product name, for example KC-28, and the AWS or EN ISO classification your procedure calls for. Add the diameter, the spool or package type and weight, and the shielding gas you weld with. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, checks the requested grade against the KISWEL datasheet and can provide the datasheet and the mill certificates issued with the order on request.
