A 150 A gas-cooled TIG torch on 3 Series parts
The CK Worldwide CK17 is a gas-cooled TIG torch rated at 150 A, ACHF or DCSP, at 100% duty cycle. CK states it is the same as its CK150. It runs without a water cooler, so it is often chosen for field repairs, site fabrication and workshops where running coolant lines is not practical.
Unlike the smaller CK9, the CK17 uses 3 Series consumables, which take a 3/8 in-32 thread and are shared with the CK18 and CK26. Body options are rigid (RG), flex (FX), pencil (CK17P) and a thread-on rigid body (RG-T) that uses the threaded 17HT handle instead of the standard HM handle.

Cables, adapters and accessory kits
Packages come with 1-piece or 2-piece cables of 12.5 ft (3.8 m) or 25 ft (7.6 m), in standard or Super-Flex hose. The manual lists 1-piece power cables 1512PCHF and 1525PCHF, Super-Flex 1512PCSF and 1525PCSF, 2-piece leads 1512CN and 1525CN, and argon hoses 212AH or 225AH. Machine-side connectors include SL2-25 and SL2-35 for DINSE 25 and 35 sockets, SL2-25M and SL2-35M for gas-through DINSE, SL-2 for Tweco and SL2-CL for Cam-Lock.
The 3 Series accessory kit AK-2 contains a short back cap, collets and collet bodies in .040, 1/16 and 3/32 in, alumina cups #4 to #6 and ceriated tungsten. AK-3GS is the gas-saver kit, with tungsten adapters, a heatshield and a #8 Pyrex cup.
Choosing between the CK17 and its relatives
The CK17 is the lightest 3 Series option. If the job regularly needs more than 150 A without a cooler, the CK26 gas-cooled torch steps up to 200 A on the same consumables; with a cooler, the CK18 reaches 350 A. Where a 2 Series fleet is already in use, the CK20 water-cooled TIG torch and CK9 share a different consumable family.
Thread-on bodies are useful where the handle must not rotate on the body, for example when a remote amperage control or finger switch is fixed to the handle. Pencil bodies are shorter at the back and reach into narrow grooves, at the cost of a lower practical current because there is less body mass to absorb heat. When converting a torch from standard collets to gas-saver parts, change the collet body, collet and cup together so the parts seat correctly.
