105 A plasma torch rated for continuous duty

The Trafimet PLUSCUT 105 is a manual air plasma cutting torch rated 105 A at 100% duty cycle. It is a non-HF (contact start) torch that runs on compressed air at 4.5 to 5.0 bar with a flow of 250 l/min at 5 bar. Trafimet’s technical sheet gives a maximum clean cut of 35 mm at 25 cm/min, a maximum cut of 40 mm, a severance capacity of 50 mm and a pierce capacity of 22 mm.

The torch weighs 0.6 kg on a 1 m reference length, is rated 500 V peak and complies with EN 60974-7. It is supplied in coaxial cable or cable assembly versions of 6 m and 12 m, with either a CENTRAL 004 or a TRAFIMECTOR 304 connection on the machine side.

Consumables and wear parts

Trafimet lists three consumable sets for the PLUSCUT 105: standard cutting, extended-reach cutting and gouging. Each uses five consumable positions (shield, retaining cap, tip, diffuser and electrode as drawn on the sheet), packed so that the 105 A kit PT1105 covers standard cutting.

Spare parts include the torch head PF1390, the handle with screws TP0320, the microswitch kit PT0366, the trigger and lever kit with microswitch BX0917, the air tube FH1716P, the o-ring EA1920 and the ball joint BW0311. Connection parts such as the 5-pin plasma central adaptor FY0043 and the TRAFIMECTOR central adaptor FY0090 are listed separately.

Compatibility and use

Because the PLUSCUT 105 is a non-HF torch, it must be used with a power source designed for contact-start torches; it is not interchangeable with high-frequency start torches. Confirm the machine connection (CENTRAL 004 or TRAFIMECTOR 304), the pin assignment and the cutting current of the power source before ordering. Air quality matters: clean, dry air at the stated pressure protects the electrode and tip.

The 105 A rating applies at 100% duty, so the torch suits mechanised or long manual cutting runs. As with any plasma torch, the capacity quoted is a maximum for the matching power source and travel speed, and thickness figures should be confirmed on the actual machine.
