Overview
The VEGA FX81 is a guided radar (TDR) level transmitter for continuous level measurement in liquids and bulk solids, supplied in the configuration FX81.ICEAIFAXKMAM with a 2808 mm exchangeable rod probe. It provides reliable level measurement for process and storage applications.
The unit features a two-wire 4-20 mA/HART output with SIL qualification, an IEC Ex ia IIC T6…T1 approval, and a plastic single chamber housing with IP66/IP67 protection, making it suitable for hazardous area installations.
Engineering & Design
The exchangeable rod probe of 8 mm diameter in 316L material is mounted with a process fitting of NPS 4″ Class 300 RF flange per ASME B16.5 in 316/316L, and the FKM (SHS FPM 70C3 GLT) seal provides a second line of defence for process temperatures from -40 to +150 C.
The PLICSCOM display and adjustment module is mounted for on-site configuration, and the M20x1.5 cable entry with PA black cable gland (5-9 mm) simplifies field wiring. The transmitter operates worldwide with measuring units in metre or millimetre and is approved under IEC Ex ia IIC T6…T1 for gas groups with Ga, Ga/Gb, and Gb suitability.

The VEGA FX81 level transmitter is the guided radar instrument of the VEGAFLEX family with the rod or the cable probe for the continuous level measurement. The probe is installed in the tank nozzle and is matched to the tank height with the parameter setting of the sensor. The output is configurable as the 4-20 mA signal with HART, and the instrument is suitable for the liquids and the solids of the process.
The FX81 transmitter is parameterized with the PACTware software and the VEGA DTM, and the echo curve is displayed for the verification of the measurement at the commissioning. The probe is ordered with the length and the process connection matched to the tank drawing, and the blocking distance is set for the product level of the application. The housing is closed with the double seal for the hazardous area of the plant.
