Schneider Electric ATV630U07N4 Altivar Process 0.75 kW Drive
Description
ATV630U07N4 smallest Altivar Process drive for process machines
The ATV630U07N4 is a Schneider Electric product listed in the datasheet as: Variable Speed Drive, Altivar Process ATV600, ATV630, 0.75kW, 1hp, 380 to 480V, IP21, UL type 1. The Altivar Process ATV630 is the flagship drive for pumps, fans and compressors in process industry, and this 0.75 kW (1 hp) unit is the entry size of that range. It is selected when a small process motor needs the same network functions, graphic keypad and energy features as the large drives of the family. Seven Star LLC supplies the ATV630U07N4 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier based in Muscat.
Reading the reference: ATV630 is the Altivar Process wall or floor drive, U07 is the 0.75 kW rating, and N4 is the 380 to 480 V three-phase supply class. The datasheet title adds IP21 / UL type 1 enclosure, so the drive does not need an extra cabinet for dust-free indoor mounting.

Process drives are judged by how they behave in a plant system, not only by the motor they turn. The ATV630 range is aimed at integration with a plant network, with a built-in Ethernet option as a common choice, and it carries functions such as multi-pump handling and flow estimation without a flow meter.
Place of the ATV630U07N4 among the Altivar Process range
The ATV630 is the standard wall or floor version of the Altivar Process line; the ATV650 is the 6-pulse and 12-pulse family of the same generation with a different mechanical design, and the ATV930 is the heavier Altivar Process variant for demanding loads. For small motors up to a few kW the ATV630U07N4 and its neighbours U15N4 and U22N4 are the usual choices.
Parameter migration between sizes is straightforward, because the same menu structure and the same graphic terminal are used throughout the family. Keep the configuration file of each installed drive in the maintenance records so a spare can be loaded in minutes.
Selection checklist for the ATV630U07N4
- Motor nameplate power and current: 0.75 kW and the motor rated current.
- Mains: three phase 380 to 480 V and available short-circuit level.
- Network: fieldbus type needed and whether an option module is required.
- Environment: IP21 enclosure suits indoor, clean electrical rooms only.
- Process features needed: PID, pump cascade, sleep mode, safe torque off.
- Motor cable length and the need for an output filter.
Installation and set-up of the ATV630U07N4
Mount the drive vertically on a flat panel with the airflow clearances of the installation manual and keep a clean separation between the motor cable and control wiring. Screen the motor cable and bond the screen at both ends.
At first start, enter the motor data, run the auto-tune with the motor uncoupled if possible, and set the macro configuration that best matches the process. Record minimum and maximum frequency, ramps and the PID settings.
Typical applications of the ATV630U07N4 in Oman and the GCC
In Oman and the GCC the ATV630 class is used on chemical dosing and small cooling-water pumps, sump and transfer pumps in water treatment, and fans in utility rooms. Ambient heat in electrical rooms in summer calls for a check of derating and a clean cabinet filter.

About brand
Schneider Electric is the French group for energy management and industrial automation: low and medium voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, motor control, drives, PLCs, power monitoring, UPS systems and building management. Its history goes back to 1836, when the brothers Adolphe and Eugène Schneider took over the iron and steel works at Le Creusot in Burgundy. Over the 20th century the company left steel and heavy engineering and became an electrical group through acquisitions such as Merlin Gerin, Télémécanique, Square D and Modicon. Its head office is in Rueil-Malmaison near Paris, and its shares are listed on Euronext Paris.

Milestones
- 1836: The Schneider brothers acquire the Le Creusot works; the business grows in steel, locomotives and heavy engineering.
- 1975: First investment in Merlin Gerin, a French maker of electrical distribution equipment.
- 1988–1992: Télémécanique, Square D (USA) and Merlin Gerin join the group, making it an electrical specialist.
- 1997: Modicon, the company behind the first programmable logic controller, joins the group.
- 1999: The group takes the name Schneider Electric.
- 2007 and 2014: APC (UPS and data centre power) and Invensys (process automation) are acquired.
Choosing Schneider Electric breakers and motor control
Circuit breakers are chosen by current and breaking capacity. Acti9 miniature circuit breakers (iC60, C120) protect final circuits up to 125 A. ComPacT NSX molded case breakers cover about 16 to 630 A, and the letter after the frame size sets the breaking capacity: B, F, N, H, S, L from lowest to highest. MasterPacT air circuit breakers are used as main incomers on large switchboards. For motors, a TeSys contactor with an LRD overload relay or a GV2 motor circuit breaker suits direct starting, an Altistart soft starter reduces starting current, and an Altivar drive controls speed. The breaking capacity must always be at least the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation.
Where Schneider Electric products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Schneider Electric equipment is found in main and sub-main switchboards of commercial and residential buildings, motor control centres in water, oil and gas and industrial plants, substations protected by Sepam and Easergy relays, data centres powered by Galaxy and APC UPS systems, and buildings controlled by EcoStruxure Building Operation.
APC by Schneider Electric: UPS and critical power
Since 2007, APC has been part of Schneider Electric and is now its product brand for uninterruptible power supplies, replacement batteries, battery packs, network management cards and rack power distribution. Our APC catalogue covers Smart-UPS line-interactive and on-line models, Easy UPS On-Line, the modular Symmetra LX, RM and PX ranges, Silcon three-phase systems and their spare part kits, and the RBC cartridges that keep them running.
