Measurement and Operating Principle

The BR200 operates on a 1:1 input-to-output pressure ratio using a balanced diaphragm design. The controller or positioner’s signal pressure acts on the upper diaphragm, producing a force that is opposed by output pressure acting on the lower diaphragm through a seal plate orifice. When the input signal pressure rises, the upper diaphragm depresses and opens the pilot valve, admitting full supply pressure to the output until the output pressure re-balances the two diaphragms. When the input signal falls, the exhaust valve opens and vents the output rapidly until it matches the new, lower signal value.

Because the booster draws directly from the plant air supply rather than throttling it through the positioner’s small internal ports, the Masoneilan BR200 dramatically reduces actuator fill and exhaust time.
