Garlock GYLON Style 3504 Blue PTFE Gasket Sheet

Description

Blue microsphere-filled PTFE sheet for general chemical service

GYLON Style 3504 is the blue PTFE gasket sheet from Garlock’s GYLON family, made from PTFE with aluminosilicate microspheres. Garlock sells it as a tight-sealing material with improved performance over conventional PTFE, reduced product loss and emissions, reduced creep relaxation and excellent bolt-torque retention.

Its unique manufacturing process is said to minimise the cold-flow problems typical of skived and expanded PTFE sheets, and the branding and colour coding are meant to reduce misapplication. Typical applications named are piping systems, pressure vessels, pumps, scrubber systems and storage tanks, with industries ranging from chemical processing, oil and gas and power generation to food, pharmaceutical and water.

Reading the Style 3504 data when selecting a gasket

The service window is wide: -450 °F (-268 °C) to 500 °F (260 °C), with 400 °F (204 °C) given as the ideal limit, and full vacuum to 800 psig (55 bar). Garlock lists many acids, some caustics, hydrocarbons, solvents, hydrogen peroxide, refrigerants and cryogenic duty as the fluid services, while Garlock lists strong caustics under Style 3510 instead.

Compressibility of 25 to 45 % lets the sheet follow flange irregularities, and the design factors depend on thickness: m 3.0 and y 1650 psi up to 1/16 in, m 2.5 and y 3000 psi for 1/8 in. Garlock’s own interchange list names Chesterton ESC-B and Flexitallic SIGMA 500 for this style. The datasheet lists FDA, USP VI, REACH and RoHS compliance statements for the product family.

Documents, ordering details and quotation

State whether the joint is raised face or flat face, because the minimum stress differs. For a quotation please give the medium and concentration, design and test pressure, temperature, the flange standard and facing, bolting, the thickness and whether you need whole sheet or gaskets cut to size. Garlock describes its datasheet as a general guide that should not be the sole means of selecting or rejecting a material, so confirm the grade with Garlock Applications Engineering for any critical duty. About brand

Garlock is a sealing products manufacturer based in Palmyra, New York, and part of Enpro. Seven Star LLC supplies Garlock gasket sheets to plant, maintenance and fabrication teams in Oman and the GCC on inquiry.

GYLON and BLUE-GARD gasket sheets

The sheets listed here come from two families. GYLON is the PTFE based range for chemical, food and pharmaceutical duties, and BLUE-GARD is the aramid fibre range for water, oils, steam and gases. Each official spec sheet shows the style, service limits, typical properties and the approvals that are printed on it.

Seven Star LLC links the manufacturer document on every product page, so buyers can verify the figures and approvals themselves before they send an inquiry.

Choosing the right style

The correct style depends on the medium and concentration, temperature, pressure, flange facing and bolt load. Send these details with your request for quotation and we compare them with the published Garlock data before we quote, referring critical duties back to the manufacturer. Sheets can be quoted as whole sheets or as gaskets cut to size.
