Garlock GYLON Style 3510 Off-White PTFE Gasket Sheet

Description

Barium-sulfate PTFE sheet for caustics, chlorine and steam

GYLON Style 3510 is the off-white barium-sulfate-filled PTFE sheet in Garlock’s GYLON line. Garlock lists strong caustics, moderate acids, chlorine, gases, monomers, steam, hydrocarbons, cryogenics and aluminium fluoride as the media it suits.

The features Garlock stresses are a tighter seal, improved performance over conventional PTFE, reduced creep relaxation and excellent bolt-torque retention, together with some of the largest sheet sizes in the industry and improved material utilisation that reduces waste. Branding and colour coding are meant to prevent misapplication. It serves the same industries as the other GYLON styles, from chemical and pharmaceutical to power generation and mining.

Where Style 3510 differs from Style 3504 and 3500

The datasheet shows a harder, denser sheet than 3504: specific gravity 2.80, compressibility only 4 to 10 %, creep relaxation 11 % and a y factor of 2350 psi (16.2 N/mm2) up to 1/16 in with m 2.0. The lower creep relaxation helps it keep load on a bolted joint, and the leakage figure of 0.04 ml/hr (Fuel A) is lower than for 3504 or 3500.

The maximum pressure is printed as 1200 psig (83 bar), against 800 psig for Style 3504, with the same temperature window of -450 to 500 °F. Together with the caustic and chlorine media listing, that suits it to caustic soda and chlorine lines, subject to the notes on the datasheet that cases close to the limits should be referred to Garlock Applications Engineering.

Documents, ordering details and quotation

Tell us the caustic concentration and temperature when asking for Style 3510. Send the fluid, its concentration, working and hydrotest pressure, temperature range, flange class and face finish, bolt material and the thickness and format (sheet or cut gasket) that you want. Garlock states that its figures are based on ANSI raised-face flanges at its preferred torque and that cases near the pressure, temperature or P x T limits should be referred to its engineers, so please allow time for that check. About brand

Garlock is a sealing products manufacturer based in Palmyra, New York, and part of Enpro. Seven Star LLC supplies Garlock gasket sheets to plant, maintenance and fabrication teams in Oman and the GCC on inquiry.

GYLON and BLUE-GARD gasket sheets

The sheets listed here come from two families. GYLON is the PTFE based range for chemical, food and pharmaceutical duties, and BLUE-GARD is the aramid fibre range for water, oils, steam and gases. Each official spec sheet shows the style, service limits, typical properties and the approvals that are printed on it.

Seven Star LLC links the manufacturer document on every product page, so buyers can verify the figures and approvals themselves before they send an inquiry.

Choosing the right style

The correct style depends on the medium and concentration, temperature, pressure, flange facing and bolt load. Send these details with your request for quotation and we compare them with the published Garlock data before we quote, referring critical duties back to the manufacturer. Sheets can be quoted as whole sheets or as gaskets cut to size.
