Garlock BLUE-GARD Style 3000 Aramid NBR Gasket Sheet
Description
Aramid-fibre compressed sheet for water, oil and fuel joints
BLUE-GARD Style 3000 is a blue compressed-fibre gasket sheet of aramid fibres bonded with nitrile rubber. Garlock lists water, aliphatic hydrocarbons, oils and gasoline as its fluid services, and describes the Blue-Gard line as giving excellent sealability, improved torque retention and drastically lowered emissions levels.
Garlock adds that these properties cut operating costs through reduced waste, maintenance, stocked inventory, fluid loss and energy consumption. The sheet carries ABS approval and BS 7531 Grade Y, and the catalogue example on garlock.com is a sheet 60 in wide and 180 in long, a large format for cutting many gaskets.

Where Style 3000 fits in a gasket stock
It is the oil-and-fuel member of Garlock’s compressed-fibre family. The temperature range runs from -100 °F (-73 °C) to 700 °F (371 °C), but only 400 °F (205 °C) is the continuous maximum, and the pressure limit is 1000 psig (70 bar) with 750 psig ideal. Compressibility of 8 % and recovery of 50 % describe a firm sheet that needs a good seating load: y is 3050 psi (21.0 N/mm2) up to 1/16 in and 4400 psi (30.3 N/mm2) at 1/8 in.
Leakage in the nitrogen test at 3000 psi gasket load is 0.6 ml/hr and in the Fuel A test 0.2 ml/hr. The spec sheet carries a note that dielectric tests recorded current arcing around the gasket, so published dielectric strength is a minimum. As with every Garlock datasheet, the values are based on ANSI raised-face flanges at its preferred torque.

| GYLON Style 3510 | PTFE with barium sulfate | Off-white | Strong caustics, moderate acids, chlorine, gases, steam, hydrocarbons, cryogenics |
Documents, ordering details and quotation
Specify the fuel or oil type and temperature so the NBR binder can be checked against it. Send the fluid, its concentration, working and hydrotest pressure, temperature range, flange class and face finish, bolt material and the thickness and format (sheet or cut gasket) that you want. Garlock states that its figures are based on ANSI raised-face flanges at its preferred torque and that cases near the pressure, temperature or P x T limits should be referred to its engineers, so please allow time for that check. About brand
Garlock is an American manufacturer of sealing products, founded in 1887 in Palmyra, New York, after Olin J. Garlock developed a packing to seal piston rods on steam engines. It is now part of Enpro Industries, listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Garlock gaskets, packings and oil seals are used in chemical plants, refineries, power stations and pulp and paper mills.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Garlock gasket sheet materials for refineries, chemical plants, utilities and gasket cutters in Oman and the GCC.

Garlock product series
GYLON restructured PTFE gasket sheets include Style 3504 blue with aluminosilicate filler, Style 3510 off-white with barium sulfate, Style 3500 fawn with silica, Style 3545 microcellular PTFE for low bolt loads, Style 3530 graphite-filled and Style 3565 ENVELON sandwich sheet. The GYLON EPIX Style 3504 EPX has a hex-profile surface for better sealing at lower loads.
BLUE-GARD compressed sheets include Style 3000 with aramid fibres and NBR binder and Style 3200 with SBR binder, for water, steam and general service.
Choosing a GYLON style depends on the medium and the flange: blue 3504 for moderate concentrations of acids and some caustics, off-white 3510 for strong caustics, fawn 3500 for strong acids, and microcellular 3545 for glass-lined, plastic or worn flanges that cannot take high bolt loads. Compressed BLUE-GARD sheets are economical for water, steam, oils and mild chemicals within their pressure and temperature limits.
Where Garlock gaskets are used
Flanged joints in chemical, acid and caustic service, steam, water, hydrocarbons and gases, and glass-lined or fragile flanges where low bolt loads are needed.
