Description
Absolute-rated polypropylene depth filter with long service life
The 3M Betapure NT-T series is an all-polypropylene depth filter cartridge from 3M’s Separation and Purification Sciences Division. It is built from three media sections, each made of several layers of polypropylene filter media interleaved with fluid distribution netting. Flow channels in the outer and middle sections pass part of the fluid directly to deeper layers, so that contaminant is spread through the full depth of the cartridge instead of blinding the outer surface. The inner third has no flow channels and acts as the final qualifying section that sets the absolute rating.
3M states that this design gives up to three times the dirt holding capacity of competing filters and a consistent removal efficiency as differential pressure rises.

Sizing a housing with the pressure drop table
3M gives a specific clean pressure drop for each grade per 10 in. equivalent cartridge. The clean differential pressure equals total flow times viscosity in centipoise times the table value, divided by the number of 10 in. equivalent lengths in the housing. For example, 100 l/min of water through T050 grade in a housing holding three 30 in. cartridges (nine equivalents) gives roughly 100 x 1 x 5.9 / 9, about 66 mbar clean. Starting with a low clean pressure drop leaves more of the allowable differential for dirt loading, which extends change-out intervals.
Applications in oil, gas and process plants
3M lists chemical and hydrocarbon processing uses such as acids, sodium hypochlorite, polyolefin manufacture, amine sweetening and water flood, alongside pre-RO filtration, plating baths, coatings, process water and ground water remediation. The all-polypropylene build gives broad chemical compatibility; the gasket or O-ring material should still be checked against the fluid. Cartridges must be installed in a housing that matches the selected end modification.

About brand

Speedglas 9100 is the auto-darkening welding helmet family, supplied with different filter sizes and with or without side windows. Scotch Super 33+ is the vinyl electrical tape most specifications call for by name. Liqui-Cel membrane contactors, such as the EXF-4x13, add or remove dissolved gases in liquid streams.
Where 3M products are used
Hearing, respiratory and welding protection from 3M is specified by HSE departments in refineries, fabrication yards, power plants and construction sites across the GCC. Super 33+ tape is used for primary insulation and jacketing on low-voltage splices and for phase marking in panels. Liqui-Cel contactors sit in water treatment and process skids where oxygen or carbon dioxide has to be stripped from water, for example ahead of boilers or in ultrapure water loops.
