VIBXPERT II Vibration Analyzer Dual-Channel FFT
Overview
The PRUFTECHNIK VIBXPERT II vibration analyzer is a dual-channel FFT data collector and signal analyzer for route-based vibration data collection and on-site machine diagnostics. It records measurement routes, performs field balancing on one or two channels and analyzes complex machine signals directly on the job site, displaying the machine condition on a backlit color TFT display after a very short measuring time.
The VIBXPERT II vibration analyzer is now part of the Fluke condition monitoring portfolio and is used by maintenance teams worldwide for condition-based maintenance of pumps, motors, fans, compressors and turbines. This VIBXPERT II vibration analyzer is supplied as a complete instrument with the standard accessories for data collection and analysis.
Engineering & Design
The VIBXPERT II vibration analyzer measures vibration with a frequency range from DC up to 51.2 kHz (acceleration from 0.5 Hz) and a sampling frequency of up to 131 kHz per channel, with frequency response according to ISO 2954. It offers a low-frequency range of 0 to 500 Hz with a resolution of 0.05 Hz for slow-speed machinery analysis.
The instrument is built around an ARM CPU at 800 MHz with 128 MB DDR RAM and a built-in CompactFlash card for measurement storage. The backlit TFT-LCD display measures 116 x 87 mm. Power comes from a Li-Ion rechargeable battery pack (VIB 5.325, 7.3 V) charged from 110-240 V / 50-60 Hz. The VIBXPERT II weighs approximately 1.1 kg and measures 186 x 162 x 52 mm.
The instrument supports acceptance measurements according to ISO 10816 and ISO 7919, letting the user compare measured values directly against the machine vibration severity bands. Measurement data collected in the field is transferred to OMNITREND software for trend analysis, alarm management and reporting, completing the predictive maintenance workflow.

Building an Effective Route Programme
The value of a route-based data collector comes from consistent, repeatable measurements. Start by listing critical machines, defining measurement points on each bearing in the horizontal, vertical and axial directions, and setting alarm limits based on ISO 10816 severity bands or the plant’s own baseline data. Build the routes in OMNITREND, load them into the instrument, and collect data at fixed intervals so that trends reveal developing faults such as unbalance, misalignment, looseness or bearing wear.
Getting Started in the Field
Good measurement practice matters as much as the instrument. Use the same sensor mounting method at the same point every time, preferably a magnet on a prepared spot or a permanently fitted mounting pad. Record the machine speed and operating condition with each reading, because load and speed changes shift the spectrum. When a machine exceeds its alarm level, switch from routine collection to detailed analysis with higher resolution spectra, time waveforms and, where needed, the second channel for phase measurements.
Field Balancing
For fans, blowers and similar rotors, the balancing function guides the technician through reference runs and trial weights in one or two planes. Confirm that the vibration is actually caused by unbalance before correcting it, since misalignment, resonance or a soft foot will not be fixed by adding weight.
Care and Troubleshooting
- Keep the Li-Ion battery charged and store the instrument in its case between rounds.
- Inspect sensor cables and connectors regularly; intermittent readings often come from a damaged cable.
- Back up the CompactFlash data to OMNITREND after each route to avoid data loss.
Applications in Oman and the GCC
Maintenance teams across the region use the VIBXPERT II vibration analyzer on pumps and compressors at oil and gas facilities, gas turbines and cooling fans at power and desalination plants, and motors and gearboxes in cement, mining and water utilities.

Where Fluke instruments are used
Fluke process calibrators are used for loop checks, transmitter calibration and valve tests in oil and gas, power and water plants. Clamp meters and insulation testers serve electrical maintenance on motors, switchgear and cables. The bench calibrators and reference multimeters are the working standards of electrical calibration laboratories in the GCC, where they calibrate multimeters, clamp meters, process tools and power analyzers.Ordering Fluke instruments: what we need
Send the exact model with its suffix, since versions differ. A Fluke 721, for example, is defined by its two pressure ranges, and a 729 by its maximum pressure. For bench calibrators, list the options you need, such as oscilloscope calibration or power quality options, the line voltage, and the type of calibration certificate you require from the manufacturer. For Fluke multimeters and clamp meters, add the kit contents wanted, such as probes, leads or cases.Browse Fluke products by category: Portable Test & Measurement.
