Fluke 1507 Insulation Resistance Tester
Description
Pocket insulation tester with five test voltages
The Fluke 1507 is a battery-powered insulation resistance tester for maintenance electricians and commissioning engineers who need to prove cable, motor and switchgear insulation before energising. It generates 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000 V dc test voltages from a rotary switch and displays insulation resistance from 0.01 MOhm up to 10 GOhm. The lower voltages make it suitable for testing sensitive installations such as instrument cabling and low-voltage control wiring, while 500 V and 1000 V cover the usual motor and power-cable checks.
Beyond a simple spot reading, the 1507 calculates polarization index (PI) and dielectric absorption ratio (DAR) for trending insulation condition on motors and generators, and a compare function lets the user set a pass/fail limit so the display shows whether a reading is above the minimum. It also measures ac/dc voltage up to 600 V and earth-bond resistance with a 200 mA test current.

Using the 1507 for motors, cables and switchgear
Choose the test voltage from the equipment rating: low voltages for electronics-adjacent wiring, 500 V for 400 V motor windings and 1000 V for higher-rated cable. For rotating machines, run the 10-minute PI test or the shorter DAR test and record the ratio rather than a single spot value, because moisture and contamination show up as a falling ratio over time. The live-circuit lockout protects both the user and the tester if a circuit is still energised.
Before ordering, confirm the voltage range you actually need, whether PI/DAR is required (not available on the 1503) and the lead and probe set. Complementary Fluke instruments on this site include the Fluke 1587 FC insulation multimeter for combined insulation and multimeter work, and a wider range of instruments is listed under Portable Test and Measurement.
Documents and quotation
The attached document is the Fluke 1507/1503 Users Manual (English), which contains the full specification tables, safety instructions and operating procedures. Fluke currently publishes its data sheet through a protected page that could not be retrieved, so the manual is supplied instead. For a quotation, state the quantity and whether you require a calibration certificate, a carrying case or spare leads.

About brand
Ask an instrument technician which calibrator is in the toolbox and the answer is often a Fluke. Founded in 1948 and based in Everett, Washington, the company makes handheld test tools, and its Fluke Calibration line supplies laboratory standards. Seven Star LLC lists Fluke process calibrators, electrical test tools and bench calibrators, and sources them for maintenance teams and calibration laboratories in Oman.
Fluke calibrators and test tools listed
The main Fluke products on this page fall into three groups, besides other test tools such as further multimeters, a thermometer, an anemometer, a vibration tester and a portable appliance tester:
- Process tools: the 754 documenting process calibrator with HART, 789 ProcessMeter, 721 dual sensor pressure calibrator and 729 automatic pressure calibrator
- Electrical test: the 376 FC true-RMS clamp meter with iFlex probe and the 1587 FC insulation multimeter
- Fluke Calibration bench standards: 5522A, 5502A, 5500A and 5080A multi-product calibrators, the 5720A multifunction calibrator, 8508A reference multimeter, 6100A electrical power standard and 9640A RF reference source
Several of the bench models belong to earlier generations. When a model is no longer produced, we check the manufacturer's documentation and propose the successor it names.
Where Fluke instruments are used
Fluke process calibrators are used for loop checks, transmitter calibration and valve tests in oil and gas, power and water plants. Clamp meters and insulation testers serve electrical maintenance on motors, switchgear and cables. The bench calibrators and reference multimeters are the working standards of electrical calibration laboratories in the GCC, where they calibrate multimeters, clamp meters, process tools and power analyzers.
Ordering Fluke instruments: what we need
Send the exact model with its suffix, since versions differ. A Fluke 721, for example, is defined by its two pressure ranges, and a 729 by its maximum pressure. For bench calibrators, list the options you need, such as oscilloscope calibration or power quality options, the line voltage, and the type of calibration certificate you require from the manufacturer. For Fluke multimeters and clamp meters, add the kit contents wanted, such as probes, leads or cases.
