Wolf Safety Wolflite H-251ALED Rechargeable LED Handlamp

Description

Robust 210 lumen LED handlamp for Zone 1 and Zone 2 inspection rounds

The Wolf Safety Wolflite H-251ALED is a rechargeable LED safety handlamp that Wolf updated in 2021 with a new long-life LED light source. It is CE and UKCA marked and certified to ATEX, IECEx and UKEX for use in gas, vapour, mist and dust atmospheres in Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.

The lamp produces an intense spot beam of about 4 degrees with a lower-level fringe of flood light, driven by a 1.2 W high-power LED rated at 210 lumens at source. A large switch is designed to be operated with gloved or bare hands, and lanyard fixings are built into the housing.

Features that matter on plant

Wolf lists deep discharge protection to guard the battery against permanent damage, and an emergency illumination function that lights the lamp if power to the charger fails, which helps mark an escape route from a charging point. The housing is a robust anti-static thermoplastic.

The datasheet positions the H-251ALED for cyclic use and short-term standby. For long-term standby on a charger, Wolf points users to the Wolflite XT rechargeable LED handlamp or the rechargeable torch instead.

Chargers, compatibility and selection

The lamp is used with the C-251HV or C-251LV chargers: the HV version is for mains supplies and the LV version for low-voltage supplies. Wolf also publishes an LED retrofit document for older H-251 and H-79 lamps, which is relevant if an existing fleet is being upgraded rather than replaced.

Check that the Ex marking matches the zone, gas group and temperature class of the work area. The H-251ALED is rated for ambient temperatures from -10 to +40 degrees C, so confirm that the site range falls inside that window before issue.

At 1.84 kg it is a heavier lamp than the lithium-ion XT range, a consequence of its sealed lead acid cells, but it offers up to 18 hours from a single charge. Inspect the glass lens and housing for damage before each shift and follow the manufacturer instructions for battery handling and disposal.

About brand

Wolf Safety is a Sheffield manufacturer of ATEX and IECEx certified lighting for hazardous areas, with a history that starts with mining safety lamps in 1912. Its portable, temporary, installed and area luminaires are used by maintenance, inspection and shutdown teams working where flammable gas, vapour or dust may be present.

Hazardous-area lighting ranges

The Wolf Safety catalogue covers rechargeable handlamps and torches, headtorches, linkable temporary floodlights and luminaires, tank lighting kits, installed linear, floodlight, highbay and bulkhead luminaires, and towerlite area lights. Supporting products include ATEX transformers, splitter boxes, cable reels, extension cables and ventilation fans.

Certification and application

Wolf Safety publishes ATEX, IECEx and UKEX certificates alongside its datasheets, so buyers can check the zone, gas group and temperature class before a lamp is issued to a work crew. Typical uses include tank and vessel entry, plant turnarounds, refinery and offshore inspection rounds, and emergency lighting where a hazardous atmosphere is possible.

Sourcing through Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies Wolf Safety lighting to customers in Oman and the GCC and can quote against the datasheet model, voltage and zone requirements of each project.
