Phoenix Contact QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5 Power Supply 24 V 5 A
Description
QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5 compact power supply, 24 V DC 5 A (120 W)
The QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5 (item number 2904600) is the smallest single-phase unit of the QUINT4 POWER range. It supplies 24 V DC at 5 A, which is 120 W, from a 100 to 240 V AC wide-range input, in a housing only 36 mm wide. Despite the compact size it keeps the characteristic QUINT functions: a static boost to 125 %, a dynamic boost of 10 A for five seconds, SFB technology at 30 A for 15 ms and signal outputs that warn before the output voltage drops. Seven Star LLC supplies the QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat for panel builders and maintenance teams who need robust 24 V in a small footprint.
What the QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5 type code tells you
QUINT4-PS identifies the fourth-generation QUINT POWER supply, 1AC the single-phase AC input, 24DC the 24 V DC output and 5 the nominal output current in amperes. The 5 A type is the entry point of a ladder that continues with 10 A, 20 A and 40 A single-phase types, so a project that starts small can scale up while keeping the same operating concept, NFC configuration and signal logic.

Signals and boost behaviour on the small QUINT4
Two configurable signal outputs and a relay contact are fitted, as on the larger types. The relay contact is rated 24 V DC 1 A or 30 V AC/DC 0.5 A and by default closes while the output voltage is above 0.9 times the set value. The static boost allows 6.25 A for sustained periods when the ambient temperature permits, and the dynamic boost of 10 A for five seconds covers inrush of relay coils, solenoid valves and capacitors. SFB at 30 A for 15 ms is sufficient to trip a typical 2 A or 4 A miniature breaker magnetically on a faulty branch. Residual ripple is stated as below 30 mV peak to peak.
Where the QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5 fits and which siblings to compare
At 120 W the QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5 is a good match for a PLC controller with a few I/O modules, a set of transmitters, a gateway and a small HMI. If the calculated load plus reserve passes about 4 A, the QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/10 or the QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/20 is the sensible step up. For lighter duty in building automation distributors, the STEP3-PS/1AC/24DC/5/PT is a more compact alternative. The QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5 can also be run in parallel for redundancy or capacity, with the data sheet allowing parallel and series connection.
Selection checklist for the QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5
- Total continuous 24 V load with at least 20 % reserve; keep the sum under 5 A.
- Peak starting current of coils, valves and electronics against the 10 A dynamic boost.
- Space: 36 mm DIN rail width and 125 mm depth; the unit can also be turned by 90 degrees (122 x 130 x 39 mm).
- Mains source: AC within 100 to 240 V, or DC if allowed by the project.
- Cabinet temperature: derating begins above 60 °C.
- Approvals required: marine classes and hazardous-location listing as shown above.
Installation and commissioning
Mount the QUINT4-PS/1AC/24DC/5 on a 35 mm rail, connect line, neutral and PE to the screw terminals (up to 2.5 mm² flexible), connect the 24 V output, and use a calibrated meter to set the output voltage under load. Signal outputs and the remote input are wired with push-in terminals (up to 1.5 mm² flexible). Test the signal chain by temporarily reducing the supply or adding load to see the warning behaviour. Keep ventilation openings free and avoid placing heat-producing devices directly beneath the unit.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
Panel builders in Oman use small QUINT supplies in remote terminal unit cabinets at wellheads and pipeline valve stations, in analyser shelters, in desalination chemical dosing panels and in telecom or SCADA cabinets. Extended temperature capability and the hazardous-location listing in the data sheet give some margin in hot enclosures, though enclosure design still decides ingress protection because the unit itself is IP20.

Ordering Phoenix Contact components: what we need
Phoenix Contact items are ordered by a seven-digit order number together with the type designation, both printed on the side of the module. Send both, plus the quantity. If the number is unreadable, send the type text and a photo. For power supplies, state input voltage, output current and whether the unit runs in parallel or with a redundancy module. For buyers in the GCC replacing an older unit, we check the manufacturer's documentation for the listed successor type.
