Finder 78.12.1.230.2400 24 V 12 W DIN Rail Power Supply

Description

A one-module 24 V supply for small control circuits

The Finder 78.12.1.230.2400 is a 12 W modular power supply that turns a 110 to 240 V AC or 220 V DC input into 24 V DC at 0.63 A. Finder builds it in a housing only 17.5 mm wide (one module) and 61 mm deep, so it fits on a 35 mm rail beside relays, timers and contactors in a distribution board. The datasheet describes it as a general-use supply for 24 V loads, designed for SELV systems.

Typical efficiency is 85% at 230 V AC and stand-by consumption is below 0.4 W. The output carries a hiccup short-circuit protection that recovers automatically, an internal thermal protection that shuts the output down until the unit is powered off and on again, and a varistor on the output for overvoltage.

Using a 12 W supply well

Twelve watts is enough for a handful of 24 V relay coils, a few sensors or a compact controller, but not for a whole panel. Add up the continuous current of every load against 0.63 A at normal temperature, and use the 0.50 A rating when the cabinet runs near 50 C. If the available line voltage can drop between 88 and 100 V AC, the datasheet limits the output current to 80% of the rated value there.

The datasheet notes that dual polarity and series connection are permissible, and that parallel working with OR diodes gives automatic redundancy. Remember that the 24 V side is SELV: keep it separated from mains wiring in the enclosure.

Installation notes

Snap the module onto the rail, wire the input and output through the box clamps, and leave the free air around the housing that the derating diagrams assume. Because the unit is a flyback design with a 3000 V AC input-to-output rating, it needs no external heat sink. Where a longer hold-up is useful, the datasheet figures of above 90 ms at 260 V AC give ride-through for brief mains dips on the supply side.

About brand

Finder is an Italian manufacturer of relays, timers, power supplies and other electromechanical and electronic devices, founded in 1954 and headquartered in Almese, in the Susa Valley of Piedmont. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Finder modular contactors, safety relays and DIN rail power supplies for control panels, building services and machine automation.

Relay, contactor and power supply families

The range runs from step relays and modular contactors to safety relays with forcibly guided contacts and switch mode power supplies for 35 mm rail. Each series has a datasheet with ordering codes, coil data, contact ratings, derating curves and approvals, so a part can be specified or replaced by its full type code rather than by series name alone.

Ordering Finder products: what we need

Quote the complete ordering code, including coil voltage and contact variant, together with the quantity, the supply voltage and frequency of the installation and any approvals the project requires. With that information the matching Finder version can be confirmed against the datasheet before a quotation is issued.
