Phoenix Contact TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 3-Phase Power Supply

Description

TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 three-phase power supply, 24 V DC 10 A

The TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 (item number 2903154) converts a 400 to 500 V AC three-phase supply into a stabilised 24 V DC output at 10 A, or 240 W, in a housing only 42 mm wide. It is part of the second-generation TRIO POWER range with push-in terminals and a dynamic boost of 15 A for five seconds. A distinguishing feature is that the nominal input range also covers two-phase operation between two conductors of a 400 to 500 V system, which gives flexibility where only two phases are available in a panel. Seven Star LLC supplies the TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat, and this page lists what the manufacturer data sheet states.

Meaning of the TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 type code

TRIO-PS-2G identifies the TRIO POWER power supply of the second generation, 3AC the three-phase AC input, 24DC the 24 V DC output and 10 the nominal output current. The 10 A three-phase unit is slimmer than the single-phase TRIO-PS-2G/1AC/24DC/20 (42 mm against 68 mm), though it delivers 240 W instead of 480 W.

Three-phase and two-phase operation

On a regular three-phase network the TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 draws about 0.6 A per phase at 400 V AC, so a 6 A breaker is already generous. If a panel is fed from two phases of a 400 V system, the data sheet allows 2 x 400 to 500 V AC input at a narrower tolerance, with about 1.1 A per phase. This is useful in retrofit work and in some marine and generator arrangements, but the supply designer should check the tolerance, as the allowed deviation on two phases is -10 % to +15 % instead of -20 % to +15 %.

Output behaviour

The TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 holds its nominal 24 V DC output to ±1 %, and the setting can be raised to 28 V DC, with constant capacity restricted above 24 V as stated in the document. The dynamic boost of 15 A for five seconds starts coil banks and inrush-heavy modules. Residual ripple is stated as at most 20 mV peak to peak, and the rise time to 90 % is up to 120 ms. The output overvoltage limit is 30 V DC.

Related types and system fit

The TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 matches the TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/20 for a doubled output and the single-phase TRIO-PS-2G/1AC/24DC/20 and TRIO-PS-2G/1AC/24DC/10 for single-phase sites. For plants that require preventive monitoring and SFB, the QUINT4-PS/3AC/24DC/20 is the step up. Parallel operation for capacity or redundancy is allowed in the data sheet.

Selection checklist

  • Confirm a 3 x 400 to 500 V AC (or 2 x 400 to 500 V AC) source and its tolerance.
  • Sum the 24 V loads and keep the continuous demand below 10 A.
  • Check the 15 A five-second boost against starting currents.
  • Plan 42 mm of rail width and 160 mm depth.
  • Use the recommended B, C, D or K breaker of 6 to 16 A upstream.

Installation and maintenance

Fit the TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 on a DIN rail, wire the push-in input (solid up to 4 mm², flexible up to 2.5 mm², strip length 10 mm), connect the output and the DC OK contact, and adjust the voltage while observing the load. In service, a green LED and a floating contact make it easy to detect a lost output; investigate the cause before replacing the unit, since a tripped upstream breaker or a missing phase is more common than an internal fault.

Typical applications in Oman and the GCC

The TRIO-PS-2G/3AC/24DC/10 and similar 240 W three-phase supplies are installed in pump control panels, motor starter cabinets, compressor control boxes, water treatment skids and electrical switchgear auxiliary circuits, where the 400 V network is already in the cabinet. The compact 42 mm width helps in crowded MCC compartments.

Ordering Phoenix Contact components: what we need

Phoenix Contact items are ordered by a seven-digit order number together with the type designation, both printed on the side of the module. Send both, plus the quantity. If the number is unreadable, send the type text and a photo. For power supplies, state input voltage, output current and whether the unit runs in parallel or with a redundancy module. For buyers in the GCC replacing an older unit, we check the manufacturer's documentation for the listed successor type.

Facts checked against Phoenix Contact's own company history (phoenixcontact.com), October 2026.
