Pfannenberg Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D Ex LED Multi-Function Light
Description
Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D Ex LED multi-function light
The Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D is an LED signalling light from Pfannenberg for Zone 2 gas and Zone 22 dust areas. Unlike a xenon flasher it offers three selectable operating modes in one housing: continuous light, blinking light and flashing light, with brightness adjustable between 15 % and 100 % of a 75 cd maximum. Seven Star LLC supplies the Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
What the Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D offers
Four high-output LEDs sit under a clear or coloured polycarbonate lens in the square Quadro housing, 130 x 130 x 130 mm, which is also used for the xenon Quadro F12. The sheet lists flashing frequencies of 0.1, 0.5, 0.75, 1 and 2 Hz, and blinking at 1 or 2 Hz, so one device can serve as a steady status lamp, a slow blink or a fast alarm flash. The operating mode is set internally on the 115/230 V version, and may also be controlled externally on the 12–48 V DC version.

How the Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D saves effort over a fixed-function beacon
Because intensity and mode are adjustable, one stock item can replace several fixed-function lamps: the same part can serve as a running indicator, a pre-alarm blinker and a full alarm flasher at different sites. Reduced brightness is useful in dark control rooms or when beacons face operators at close range, while 100 % is intended for outdoor alarm duty. The device carries double-pole terminals and a wide-range supply so a single type covers 115 V and 230 V networks, AC or DC.
Where the Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D fits and related devices
The Quadro LED-RGB 3G/3D from the same family provides coloured light at 8 cd, and the Quadro F12-3G/3D ATEX gives a xenon flash of 7.5 J and 84 cd. For Zone 1 service the BExBG and CWB-ATEX flashing lights are listed instead. The LED-HI is the practical choice when a Zone 2 site wants long LED life, multiple modes and low current draw rather than the highest flash energy.
Selection and ordering checklist for the Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D
- Confirm Zone 2 and Zone 22 installation and the IIC and IIIB groups.
- Select the supply version: 115–230 V AC/DC or 12–48 V DC.
- Select lens colour; the 75 cd figure is for a clear lens.
- Decide on operating mode and whether external mode control is needed (DC version).
- Check ambient temperature stays within -20 to +55 °C.
Installation and maintenance of the Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D
The housing is fixed with M4 screws on a 113.5 mm pitch through holes of 4.5 mm diameter, or with the external lugs supplied, and may be mounted in any position. Use an M20 x 1.5 gland suitable for the area and close the other entry with the sealing screw. Set the mode and intensity as the operating instructions describe before closing the cover. The housing is impact-rated IK08; routine care consists of cleaning the lens and checking gaskets and cable entries.
Typical applications of the Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D in Oman and the GCC
Typical Gulf uses include status and alarm indication on Zone 2 pump skids, metering stations, chemical dosing areas, pipe racks, bulk powder handling with Zone 22 and utility blocks at power and desalination plants. Where summer temperatures approach the +55 °C limit, shade the unit or compare it with the site temperature data.
Planning alarm and status schemes with the Quadro LED-HI 3G/3D
A common design is to assign modes by meaning: continuous light for a running or healthy state, slow blinking for a warning and fast flashing for a trip or alarm. Since the LED-HI can be set to different frequencies, the same type can be used across all three duties and the mode list recorded in the loop documents. Lower brightness settings reduce glare where the light faces a walkway, and full output is better for outdoor positions in strong sun. External mode control on the DC version allows a PLC or relay to change the pattern without replacing the light.
Keep the operating instructions and the certificate reference with the project documents. Record which mode and intensity was set at commissioning and check it again after any maintenance that opens the cover, so the alarm philosophy remains consistent from unit to unit.

About brand
Pfannenberg is the German maker of thermal management and signalling products for electrical enclosures and industry: filter fans, cooling units, air-to-water heat exchangers, chillers, heaters, sirens and beacons. Otto Pfannenberg, an electrical engineer, founded the company in Hamburg in 1954, and in 1958 he invented the filter fan to stop components in control cabinets from overheating. Pfannenberg is still family-owned and headquartered in Hamburg.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Pfannenberg signalling devices and enclosure climate products for panel builders and plant engineers in Oman and the GCC.
