Overview

The Masoneilan 31000 Series is a PFA-lined, eccentric rotary plug control valve from Baker Hughes Masoneilan, developed for services in which an unlined metal body would not survive the process fluid. Operating Principle of the Eccentric Rotary Plug

In the Masoneilan 31000 the plug does not lift off its seat the way a globe valve plug does. It rotates around a shaft that is offset from the seat centre, so the plug sweeps away from the seat as soon as it begins to move and swings back into contact only at the very end of the stroke. That eccentric motion keeps friction low during throttling and produces the low dynamic forces and tight shut-off that Baker Hughes lists among the valve’s performance features. Actuator mounting is parallel to the pipeline with either air-to-close or air-to-open action. Valve weights, including the handwheel, are 18 kg for the 1 inch size, 27 kg for 2 inch and 44 kg for 3 inch, so the Masoneilan 31000 can be installed and removed without imposing heavy piping forces.
