JUMO hydroTRANS H50 Industrial Humidity and Temperature Sensor

Description

Heated humidity and temperature transmitter for harsh industrial conditions

The JUMO hydroTRANS H50 (type 907055) is built for stable, accurate measurement of relative humidity and temperature in demanding conditions: wide temperature range from -80 to +180 °C, pressures up to 300 bar and chemically polluted or continuously humid environments. A heated, monolithic sensing element with a proprietary protective coating recovers quickly after condensation or chemical contamination.

Four probe families cover high temperature (type 10), medium pressure to 20 bar (20), high pressure to 300 bar (30) and high humidity with an extra temperature probe (40). The enclosure is polycarbonate or stainless steel, IP65 / NEMA 4X, and an optional 3.5 inch color display with push-buttons shows up to four measurands and graphs from a data logger holding 20,000 values per measurand.

Probe selection and options

The order code selects the basic type extension (10, 20, 30 or 40), enclosure (0 plastic, 2 stainless steel) and the filter, which can be stainless steel sintered, PTFE, stainless steel grid or PTFE membrane. Probe lengths, cable lengths, heating modes and interface options such as relay outputs, an ARC module or the Smart Probe connection are also coded in the data sheet.

The Smart Probe (connection option 7) is a pluggable probe that uploads its own parameters, so a damaged probe can be replaced even during operation without configuration, adjustment or calibration. The Automatic ReCovery function heats the sensing element intensely to remove chemical pollution and the resulting drift. It can be triggered manually, at set intervals, by Modbus commands or by the ARC module.

The data sheet shows the output set-up in detail: output 1 can carry relative humidity, dew point, mixing ratio, absolute humidity, wet-bulb temperature, vapor pressure or enthalpy, and output 2 can carry temperature in one of three ranges or the same calculated values. Both outputs share the same electrical type, voltage or current.

Probe bodies are made of stainless steel 1.4404 (AISI 316L), and the pressure-tight probes are rated 0.01 to 20 bar for types 20 and 40 and 0.01 to 300 bar for type 30. Make sure the process fitting you choose is rated for the same pressure.

Where it is worth the effort

Choose the H50 where cheaper sensors drift or fail: process dryers, climate chambers, pressurized pipelines, compressed-air dryers, offshore and coastal installations with salt contamination, and plants with oil, dust or corrosive vapors. The sensor coating is described as extending lifetime in salt and offshore applications.

Fit the pressure-tight probe types 20, 30 or 40 with the proper cut-in or sliding fitting for pressurized lines, and use the stainless-steel enclosure outdoors in harsh areas. Configure and adjust with the free PCS software, then document the final settings before commissioning.

Supply options matter for retrofits: the electronics run from 8 to 35 V DC or 12 to 30 V AC, an integrated 100 to 240 V AC supply can be ordered, and Ethernet-PoE versions can be powered over the network cable. A sample order code in the sheet is 907055/20-2-9-02-200-23-6-3-2-0-0-6-00-00, a stainless-steel, 20 bar probe with RS485, display and 4 to 20 mA outputs.

The data sheet describes Condensation Guard for the probe types 10, 20 and 30, High Humidity Guard for type 40 and Automatic ReCovery, which return the sensor to a dry state after wetting. Choose the probe type from the temperature and pressure of your process before the output options.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
