JUMO eTRON M Electronic Microstat 76 x 36 mm with Defrost Function, Type 701060

Description

A panel-mounted microstat with defrost cycle and compressor hours counter

The JUMO eTRON M (type 701060) is a digital electronic thermostat in a 76 x 36 mm panel format, designed for straightforward heating or cooling control. Its measurement input takes resistance thermometers, thermocouples, or standard current and voltage signals. A 3-digit backlit segment display, 13 mm high, shows the value together with symbols for the temperature unit, hours, minutes, seconds, defrosting and heating, and two LEDs report the state of relays K1 and K2.

What sets the microstat apart from a plain thermostat is its simple defrosting function and an operating hours counter, which JUMO suggests using to record the running time of a cooling compressor. Four front keys operate the device, a start-stop key triggers the timing functions, and wiring uses screw terminals on the back. A time-delayed switch-on after power-up can be selected for staggered starting, and the parameter level is code-protected.

Ordering the eTRON M: relays, input group and supply

Order code: 701060 / version-input-relays – supply – approval; the example given is 701060 / 811 – 02 – 061. Version 8 is factory-set and configurable within the chosen input group, version 9 is configured to customer specification. Choose one input group: 1 for Pt100 or Pt1000 in 2-wire plus KTY2X-6, 2 for Fe-Con J, Fe-Con L and NiCr-Ni K, 3 for 0 to 20 mA and 4 to 20 mA, 4 for 0 to 10 V. Groups cannot be changed after delivery.

Digit Option
Relays 1 One changeover contact, 10 A / 250 V
Relays 2 Two make contacts, 5 A / 250 V
Supply 02 230 V AC
Supply 05 115 V AC
Supply 31 12 to 24 V DC or 24 V AC
Approval 061 Underwriters Laboratories (UL)

The multilingual setup program and the PC interface (TTL/RS232C converter with adapter) are accessories. JUMO lists several of its push-in and screw-in resistance thermometers and thermocouple data sheets as suitable transducers.

Defrost, timing and mounting remarks

The defrosting function and hours counter make the microstat practical for small refrigeration cabinets and cold rooms: the counter can log how long a compressor has run, and the defrost symbol appears on the display during the cycle. Heating or cooling action, limit monitoring and an adjustable switching hysteresis are configurable, and an offset of -99.9 to +99.9 can correct the displayed value.

Sensor and lead resistance together must stay below 320 ohm for Pt100 and 3200 ohm for Pt1000, KTY2X-6 or resistance inputs. With supply code 31 the measurement input and supply are not isolated from each other, so the sensor wiring must be treated accordingly. The unit is built for panel mounting with a bezel seal and may be installed in any operating position. Clean the front panel with usual cleaning agents but avoid methylated spirit, white spirit and xylene. Customer linearization with up to 20 value pairs is loaded from the setup program.

Wiring and protection data are worth noting before specifying the unit. Screw terminals accept 4 mm2 solid or 2.5 mm2 stranded wire, data are saved in EEPROM, and the electrical safety follows EN 61010 part 1 with overvoltage category III. With side-by-side mounting the ambient limit drops from +50 to +40 degC. Probe short-circuit and break detection is available for Pt100, Pt1000 and KTY2X-6 inputs, and probe break for thermocouples. Measurement input and supply are isolated from each other on the 115 V and 230 V versions but not on the 12 to 24 V DC and 24 V AC version.

About brand

Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.

JUMO product families listed

JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:

  • dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
  • Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
  • digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
  • NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
  • RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs

Where JUMO sensors are used

JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.

Ordering JUMO parts: what we need

JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.
