JUMO CANtrans T 902910 Pt1000 RTD Temperature Probe with CANopen Output

Description

A screw-in RTD probe that speaks CANopen directly

The JUMO CANtrans T (type 902910) is an RTD temperature probe with a CANopen output for temperatures from -50 to +450 degC, built as a single or double probe with a vibration-resistant construction. The Pt1000 sensor, class B to DIN EN 60751:2009, is digitalized and linearized inside the probe, and the value is made available over the CANopen serial bus as a CAN slave. The DS 404 device profile provides a large number of additional functions, and all settings are made with standard CANopen software tools. Areas of application listed by JUMO include medical technology, mechanical engineering, drive technology, commercial vehicles and railroad systems.

Two basic types exist: 902910/10 with a standard body and 902910/12 with an extension tube for higher temperatures. The probe seals reliably under underpressure and overpressure through its screw-in thread, and the M12 x 1 five-pole round plug conforming to IEC 60947-5-2 carries both supply and bus. A limit value monitoring function, minimum and maximum memory and fine adjustment are included.

Configuring a CANtrans T probe for your network

The order code reads basic type – operating temperature – measuring insert – tolerance class – tube diameter – insertion length – process connection / extra codes, for example 902910/10 – 370 – 1005 – 1 – 6 – 50 – 102 / 000. Use 902910/12 and code 404 where the process is above 150 degC so the electronics stay cool on the extension tube. Extra code 100 requests a customer-specific configuration written in plain text, and 310 steps the protection tube down for faster response.

Bus setup, functions and installation points

Connect supply and the CAN lines through the M12 plug (pin assignment: V+ on 2, V- on 3, CAN_H on 4, CAN_L on 5, shield on 1) and terminate the bus at both ends. Baud rate and module ID are set by LSS or SDO; the object directory is accessible through the EDS file. Sensor monitoring continuously checks the sensor signal and issues high-priority emergency telegrams if an error occurs, while the heartbeat function lets the master see that the node is alive.

Further functions include scaling to any unit or to percent of range, an adjustable filter constant to suppress signal fluctuations, a freely adjustable characteristic offset (fine adjustment) and a min/max memory. Because the signal is digital over the bus, no analog cabling error or signal conditioning is needed, which is helpful on engines, hydraulic power packs and rolling stock where several CAN nodes already exist. The probe is also found in drive and machine control systems that use CANopen.

Because the sensor is digital, the output stays accurate at long distance, and the accuracy is stated as class B, max. 0.2 % of the measuring range span, with a temperature influence of 0.0025 % per K. Mechanical loading depends on insertion length for basic type 902910/10: a 50 mm probe withstands 50 g shock and 10 g vibration up to 2000 Hz, while a 200 mm probe is rated 15 g and 2 g up to 100 Hz, so short probes are preferred on engines. The measuring range limits are -50 to +150 degC and -50 to +450 degC, and freely selectable lower and upper limits trigger the monitoring function.

About brand

Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.

JUMO product families listed

JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:

  • dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
  • Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
  • digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
  • NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
  • RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs

Where JUMO sensors are used

JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.

Ordering JUMO parts: what we need

JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.
