Hilti TE 6-22 Cordless SDS Plus Rotary Hammer

The Hilti TE 6-22 is a compact cordless SDS Plus rotary hammer for everyday overhead and wall drilling, weighing 2.84 kg without battery. It combines a 4 to 28 mm hammer drilling capability with a quick-change chuck, a chipping function and an LED light, and it runs on the 22 V Nuron battery platform.

Light, well-balanced drilling for maintenance and installation work

The tool is aimed at drilling and hammer drilling in concrete and masonry, light chiselling such as tile scraping or channel cleaning, occasional drilling in wood and steel with the optional quick-release chuck, and setting drop-in anchors with an optional TE-C bit holder. The optimum range is 4 to 16 mm, so it suits sleeve anchors, cable-clip fixings and conduit supports rather than large rebar work.

Hilti says the new generation is lighter and better balanced, with contoured grips so it can be used comfortably in any position. Active Torque Control reduces the risk from a bit that sticks, and Active Vibration Reduction lowers the load on the operator. The functions list adds reverse mode, a torque clutch and a depth gauge.

Dust control, accessories and ordering checks

The TE 6-22 accepts the on-board TE DRS-4/6 dust removal system or a TE DRS-C connector to a vacuum cleaner, which is how Hilti describes virtually dust-free drilling. For installers working in occupied buildings, plan the dust system at the same time as the tool.

The Hilti page lists the tool as a configurable item with battery and charger options, so specify the battery size and charger when you request a quote. Confirm SDS Plus bits, and consider the TE 8-22 if you need the Electronic Slip Clutch for rebar drilling or the TE 30-22 if your anchors go beyond about 16 mm.
