Hilti HIT-HY 170 Hybrid Injection Mortar

Description

The Hilti HIT-HY 170 is a two-component hybrid injection mortar in 500 ml and 330 ml foil packs for light and medium-duty anchoring in concrete and masonry. Hilti lists window bars, sanitary equipment, awnings, air-conditioning supports, lights and light structural steel connections as typical uses, plus post-installed rebar for renovation and for replacing misplaced or missing rebar.

A fast-curing hybrid mortar for everyday anchoring

The Hilti product page lists cracked and non-cracked concrete, lightweight concrete, and solid and hollow masonry as base materials, for indoor and outdoor use and for dry and wet holes. It is free of styrene. The steel-to-concrete datasheet covers threaded rods HAS and HAS-U (M8 to M24, with HDG, A4 and HCR variants), internally threaded sleeves HIS-N and HIS-RN (M8 to M16) and rebar from 8 to 25 mm; the separate concrete-to-concrete datasheet (Feb-26) covers rebar from 8 to 32 mm and embedment up to 1250 mm depending on diameter.

Working and curing times for HIT-HY 170

Base material temperature Maximum working time Minimum curing time
-5 to 0 deg C 10 min 12 h
0 to 5 deg C 10 min 5 h
5 to 10 deg C 8 min 2.5 h
10 to 20 deg C 5 min 1.5 h
20 to 30 deg C 3 min 45 min
30 to 40 deg C 2 min 30 min

The datasheet curing times apply to dry base material only; in wet base material the curing times must be doubled. Working time in warm concrete is short, so pre-plan the number of holes per cartridge and use fresh mixers.

Selection and ordering checks

Choose HIT-HY 170 where the load case is light or medium duty and quick curing is wanted; for structural rebar connections, seismic categories C1 and C2, or a longer working time, compare HIT-HY 200-R V3, and for heavy-duty anchoring compare the HIT-RE 500 V4 epoxy. Confirm the base material, element and size, drilling method, hole cleaning and the approval the project asks for, and use Hilti PROFIS Engineering for design. The foil pack needs a matching HDM or HDE dispenser, and the datasheet states hollow drill bits for automatic cleaning or manual cleaning for holes up to 20 mm with embedment up to 10d.

About brand

Hilti is the Liechtenstein construction technology company for fastening, anchoring, firestop, installation and power tool systems. The brothers Martin and Eugen Hilti opened a small mechanical workshop in Schaan, Liechtenstein, in 1941, and the company turned to fastening technology after Martin Hilti acquired a fastening patent in 1948. Hilti is still headquartered in Schaan and controlled by the Martin Hilti Family Trust, created in 1980.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Hilti power tools and firestop products, each with the manufacturer operating instructions, for contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.
