Brand: Hilti
Hilti TE 3000-AVR Heavy-Duty Electric Jackhammer
Description
The Hilti TE 3000-AVR is the largest electric breaker in the Hilti range: an 85 J, 27.1 kg jackhammer with a TE-H (Hilti HEX 28) chuck for heavy concrete demolition, asphalt cutting, earthwork and driving ground rods. Hilti states that the latest TE 3000 generation delivers demolition power comparable to 45 kg air-powered breakers, without the compressor and hose.
Compressor-free heavy demolition and earthing-rod driving
Listed applications are demolishing reinforced concrete slabs and foundations, breaking and cutting asphalt in road construction, pipe laying and pavement repair, removing concrete for structural restoration and rebar reinforcement, and digging, trenching and tamping in rocky or hard clay soil. For power and utility projects, Hilti also lists setting ground rods in hard soils with an optional TE-H PD Power Driver, which avoids climbing a ladder to hammer earthing rods.
Hilti says the design is 10 percent lighter than earlier TE 3000 models, with a new top handle, two fully decoupled handles under Active Vibration Reduction and about 10 percent lower vibration. The quick-change chuck takes the new TE-H chisels, and the brushless motor and triple-chamber lubrication are described as virtually maintenance-free. Maximum chiselling performance is 60000 cm3 per minute.

Power supply and what to confirm before ordering
At 27.1 kg the tool is a two-person lift on stairs or into trenches, so plan handling as well as power. The operating instruction says the rating plate carries the country-specific voltage and input power, and that a generator or transformer must deliver at least twice the rated input power with the voltage within +5 percent and -15 percent of the rated value. Specify the supply voltage and plug type when you enquire, because the tool is a mains product.
Chisels for this tool are the TE-H (HEX 28) type and are not interchangeable with SDS Max or TE-S tools. The TE DRS-H dust removal system is the matching accessory. For floor work on slabs up to about 20 cm thick, Hilti lists the lighter TE 2000-22 cordless breaker, and the TE 1000-AVR is the corded alternative; reserve the TE 3000-AVR for the heaviest demolition and earthwork.
Hilti breakers and chipping hammers compared
The corded and cordless demolition tools listed by Hilti differ mainly in chuck type, impact energy and weight.
| Model | Chuck | Single impact energy | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| TE 500-AVR | TE-Y (SDS-max) | 8.5 J | 6.3 kg |
| TE 600-AVR | TE-Y (SDS-max) | 11.9 J | 5.9 kg |
| TE 700-AVR | TE-Y (SDS-max) | 11.5 J | 7.9 kg |
| TE 800-AVR | TE-S | 21 J | 10.6 kg |
| TE 1000-AVR | TE-S | 26 J | 12.5 kg |
| TE 2000-AVR | TE-S | 35 J | 14.5 kg |
| TE 3000-AVR | TE-H (Hilti HEX 28) | 85 J | 27.1 kg |
| TE 1000-22 (cordless) | TE-S | 24.7 J | 11.3 kg tool body |
| TE 2000-22 (cordless) | TE-S | 38.2 J | 17.4 kg tool body |
Key features
- 85 J single impact energy: the highest impact energy among the Hilti electric breakers listed above, for thick slabs, foundations and hard rock.
- Active Vibration Reduction: two decoupled handles lower the vibration transmitted to the operator, which helps extend permitted daily trigger time under vibration exposure rules.
- No compressor or hoses: a single mains connection or a suitable generator replaces a towed compressor, hoses and lubricators.
- Brushless motor: no carbon brushes to replace, and triple-chamber lubrication supports long service intervals.
- TE-H quick-change chuck: fast insertion and removal of HEX 28 chisels, points, spades and the ground-rod driver.
Choosing chisels and accessories
| Task | Typical TE-H insert tool |
|---|---|
| Breaking reinforced concrete | Pointed chisel |
| Controlled edge breaking and slab removal | Flat chisel |
| Asphalt cutting | Asphalt cutter blade |
| Clay and hard soil digging | Spade chisel |
| Compacting soil around pipes or posts | Tamper plate with shank |
| Driving earthing rods | TE-H PD Power Driver |
Keep chisel tips sharp: a blunt point wastes impact energy, heats the steel and slows progress. Hilti self-sharpening chisels reduce the need for regrinding, but all chisels should be checked for shank wear, which can damage the chuck.
Working technique
Let the tool weight do the work rather than pushing down hard. Start a cut close to an edge or an existing crack, take bites of a few centimetres instead of driving the chisel deep, and lever the broken piece away before moving on. Deep insertion can jam the chisel, and prying with the tool can damage the chuck. Use the side of the slab or a pre-cut line to control where the concrete breaks.
Health and safety
With sound power of 106 dB(A), hearing protection is required. Wear safety glasses, gloves and safety footwear, and use the TE DRS-H dust removal system or water suppression to control silica dust. Locate buried services before breaking ground, and make sure the operator is trained to handle a 27 kg tool safely.
Maintenance and care
- Clean the chuck and the chisel shank regularly and apply the recommended grease to the shank end.
- Inspect the power cable and plug before each use; replace damaged cables immediately.
- Keep air vents free of dust to protect the motor from overheating.
- Have the tool serviced through a Hilti service centre when the service indicator calls for it.
Use in Oman and GCC conditions
Utility, road and telecom contractors in the region break concrete and caliche in daytime temperatures that approach the tool’s 55 °C upper operating limit in summer. Shade breaks for both operator and tool, clean air vents and correctly sized generators help keep work going. On remote sites, generators must meet the twice-rated-power rule stated in the operating instructions to avoid voltage dips under the hammer’s load.
