Hilti PM 50MG-22 Cordless Green Multi-Line Laser

Description

The Hilti PM 50MG-22 is a cordless multi-line laser that projects three green 360 degree laser planes, one horizontal and two vertical, for levelling, aligning, squaring and plumbing from a single set-up point. It runs on the 22 V Nuron battery platform and Hilti describes it as its highest-visibility laser, with a self-levelling range of plus or minus 4.25 degrees in 3 seconds.

One set-up for levelling, squaring and plumbing

Hilti lists aligning plasterboard profiles on floors, walls and ceilings, vertical alignment of pipes and cables, levelling suspended ceilings, transferring metre marks and reference heights, and levelling and aligning sockets, cable routes, radiators and pipes. The product page cites newer laser diodes for brighter, sharper lines at long range and daylight work, a drop-resistant industrial housing with rubber dampers, Nuron smart asset tracking and battery life indication, and an optional tool tether for overhead use.

Run time and range notes

The Hilti product page quotes 15 to 24 hours of run time, while the operating instructions give 14 hours with a B 22-55 and 24 hours with a B 22-85 for all lines on, so the manual figures are stated above. Range figures on the page are diameters and the manual gives radii, which is consistent. Hilti notes that operating distance can be significantly affected by site conditions. The manual covers a fine-adjustment function for matching two points over distance, an inclined line function, receiver mode and a check procedure for accuracy.

Selection and ordering checks

Confirm the battery size and charger from the Nuron range, the receiver and target plate needed for long distances, and the tripod or magnetic mount. The Hilti product page lists the B 22-55 battery, PMA 20 tripod, tool tether and PRA 54 target plate as related items. For a simpler two-line green laser see the PM 2-LG, and for site levelling see the PR 40-22 rotating laser.
