An acoustic camera that shows compressed air and gas leaks on a touchscreen

The CS Instruments LeakCam 600 (LC 600) is a handheld ultrasonic leak detection camera. It uses 64 MEMS microphones covering 2 to 130 kHz and overlays the located sound source on a live 13 megapixel image, so a technician sees where a compressed air, gas or vacuum leak is instead of listening for it.

An integrated laser distance module measures the distance to the leak automatically, which CS Instruments describes as the most important parameter for an accurate leak rate estimate. The device then shows the leakage rate in litres per minute and the cost, which helps prioritise repairs and supports ISO 50001 energy documentation.

What it can find and where it is used

The manufacturer lists compressed air and pneumatics, technical gases such as nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, helium and hydrogen, flammable gases such as natural gas, methane, propane and biogas, ammonia and CO2 refrigerant systems, vacuum systems and partial discharge (corona) detection. For pressure vessel acceptance or extinguishing system commissioning it can be combined with an ultrasonic tone generator, order number 0554 0203, to leak-test systems that are not under pressure.

The camera finds the leak by sound, so it complements but does not replace gas detectors where gas concentration or personnel safety must be assessed. The datasheet lists no hazardous area certification, so check site rules before using a battery-powered device in a classified zone.

Reporting and what to confirm before ordering

Each leak location, repair action and spare part can be recorded on the device and exported through CS Leak Reporter to produce an ISO 50001 style report. The cloud version supports multiple users and locations. Decide between the 2 Ah and 4 Ah batteries and between the transport case and the backpack, and whether you need the reporting software and a calibration service (0560 4444).
