Flowserve Logix 1500 Compact Digital Positioner
Description
Flowserve Logix 1500 compact digital positioner for single-acting valves
The Flowserve Logix 1500 is a small, light, modular digital positioner designed for single-acting linear and rotary actuators. It accepts either a plain 4-20 mA analog command or a HART 7 signal, has an LCD with a scroll-push button for menu navigation, and uses a poppet-style relay. Seven Star LLC supplies the Logix 1500 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat; this page explains the ordering selections and specifications in the manufacturer brochure.
The Logix 1500 is aimed at users who want smart-positioner functions on compact control valve packages, skids and tight locations without the size or cost of a full diagnostic positioner. For double-acting actuators or advanced diagnostics, other Logix models are the better fit.

How the Logix 1500 is built: modular configuration
The positioner is built from a base unit plus a configuration kit. The base carries the electronics and relay. The kit chooses the feedback shaft, the conduit adapter and the pneumatic connection, so the same positioner can be switched between linear and rotary duty with a shaft change. The brochure says modular parts can be exchanged without affecting certification, which reduces the need for site service visits.
A direct-mount approach is also promoted: the positioner can attach directly to the actuator or valve body, avoiding external tubing, fittings and brackets. According to Flowserve this reduces leak points and weight, speeds assembly and improves resistance to vibration. Direct-mount kit options are listed in the installation manual, so request the right kit with the order.
Logix 1500 ordering code selections
The brochure presents the ordering structure as a series of selections. The table shows the choices in the order they are listed; always confirm the exact code string against the current brochure before ordering.

Logix 1500 operation, diagnostics and place in the Flowserve range
The scroll-push button on the front navigates the LCD menu and runs the quick calibration, and the brochure notes that this works with safety gloves on. Over twenty warning alarms are watched, and alerts appear on the annunciator, the LCD and through LED blink codes. Health pages suggest root causes, and alarm limits can be changed. With the optional HART 7 communication, ValveSight DTM or the RedRaven IoT platform can read the same information remotely.
The poppet relay is described as responsive and less sensitive to dirt than other designs, suited to tight control and quick actuation. A stable 0.5 % reading over five minutes is quoted for performance.
Compared with the Logix 520MD+, which offers piezo technology, multiple relay types and tiered diagnostic levels, the Logix 1500 is deliberately simpler and single-acting only. Compared with the Logix 3800e, it is smaller, and its listed approvals are intrinsic safety and non-incendive rather than explosion-proof. The Logix 3400MD is the fieldbus option. Choose the 1500 for modulating control on skid-mounted valves and replacements of pneumatic positioners where space or weight is limited.
Logix 1500 selection checklist, installation and maintenance
- Confirm the actuator is single-acting with spring return; double-acting actuators need another model.
- Linear or rotary mounting, and whether direct mounting is possible on your actuator.
- Analog or HART 7 command, and whether the analog position output is needed.
- Area approval needed for the site and the certification code (14 or 52).
- Conduit thread 1/2 in. NPTF or M20 and air thread 1/4 in. NPTF or G 1/4, with or without gauges.
- Supply air quality and the ambient range at the installation.
Mount the positioner with the correct shaft kit, make the air and conduit connections using matching thread types, and run a quick calibration from the front panel. Keep the instrument air clean and dry, because a poppet relay may be tolerant of dirt but still benefits from filtration. After commissioning, record the calibration and alarm limits so that later checks have a baseline. Modular parts can be swapped during maintenance, so holding a spare configuration kit is a practical way to shorten repairs.
Typical Logix 1500 applications in Oman and the GCC
Compact positioners are used on control valves in water treatment and desalination, utilities, fuel gas and chemical dosing skids, and wellhead-style packages in oil and gas. The aluminium case and sealed enclosure suit sun, dust and humid coastal air, while the brochure states operation from −40 to 85 °C for hot desert conditions. Shade the unit where possible and orient conduit entries downward to keep moisture out.

FAQ
Questions about the Flowserve Logix 1500 Compact Digital Positioner
Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.
01What is the Logix 1500 designed for?
It is a compact, light digital positioner for single-acting linear or rotary actuators. It offers a 4-20 mA analog or HART 7 command, an LCD, and basic diagnostics with more than 20 warning alarms.
02Can the Logix 1500 control double-acting actuators?
No. The brochure describes it as a single-acting positioner with a poppet relay. Double-acting actuators need another Flowserve model, such as the Logix 520MD+ with a double-acting relay.
03What air capacity does the Logix 1500 have?
The standard relay is rated for 12 SCFM at 60 psi (Cv 0.47) with air consumption of 0.05 SCFM at 60 psi (Cv 0.008).
04What temperature range is stated?
The brochure gives -40 to 85 degC (-40 to 185 degF) for operation, transport and storage, with an aluminium enclosure.
05How do I choose between linear and rotary versions?
The feedback shaft is part of the configuration kit: a linear D shaft or a rotary NAMUR shaft. Selecting the kit code also sets the conduit thread and air connection.
